Kagemaru Himeno Artist Event to happen in Hawaii ‐ August 14th

Is there any info about Japan Illustrator Agency? Can’t find anything about them.

Japan Illustrator Association, as far as I know. They can help put people in contact with Japanese artists for commissions, along with many other things they do, including awards and supporting up and coming artists.

You sound like you work for them becca  care to middleman for me?

The only middlemen nowadays are ZardFlipper420s charging crazy amounts :pensive: I’d even be willing to pay it to an efour person, but not to them lol

If there are tickets to buy for this, I might have to make a trip to Hawaii as my graduation gift.

“Name 5 pokemon that is outside the first 151” will weed out pretty much most of them, I bet.

Don’t you have enough :thinking::joy:

There are two cards that I didn’t have at that time that I would like to add to my collection

If she does end up signing, hopefully you can go this time

Also, going to Hawaii right after graduation would be amazing.

I doubt I will be making it to that or worlds this year unfortunately

Ah that’s disappointing to hear, I definitely would have hoped you could have went.

I kinda wish Worlds wasn’t so far from me since I hate flying (especially for over 10 hours), so that’s why I’m still indecisive if I absolutely want to go.

Either way, I enjoy seeing the photos and videos people take each year. If I don’t go, I’m always happy to see them.

I’m starting to realize I might have the same issue, I think I will be there for work at the end of June and beginning of July. Not sure I’ll be able to come back out in mid August which really stinks.

Just out of curiosity, do any of you know what signing events are like in Japan or for those newer artists in the TCG? I have only been to the previous Arita auto event this year, but are there signing events that only take place on a single day? I’ve looked a bit on the forum and it seems that most recent US events have been over a couple of days, usually over a weekend. I’m just trying to get a feel and set some realistic expectations and to not get myself too excited  I still think that its great that she will be coming here and hopefully more will come in the future.

I think this question overall might work best as a seperate thread since I feel it can be a whole topic on its own and I think its a very good question which I do not have the asnwer to myself lol. Good thought though for sure and maybe others can chime in to help!

I personally never went to any signing events in Japan, but I know some who have and I was shown pictures and told about it.

Usually art exhibitions or small events occur with newer artists that show their own work on display and sell prints or other merchandise of their own work . It can usually last between a couple days to a couple weeks. Sometimes they events are free entry, other times there can be ticket pre-orders.

If it’s a longer event, the artist usually only attends pre-selected days they’ll be there to meet fans (sometime they announce or sometimes they don’t) and if it’s shorter like 1-3 days, usually they are there every day.

If they are signing Pokémon, it can be a toss-up, other times they will say ahead of time if they are either signing cards or not. Usually on the first day, they will sign but if it’s to packed, long lines, and people being disrespectful, they will stop signing Pokémon cards the remaining days they are there.

Like previously mentioned, this probably warrants its own thread, I live in Japan and go to like 20+ of these every year. I could also do an AMA if enough people care.

The reply above this one gives an outline of how they might occur but I’d say contains outdated hearsay and assumptions

I definitely want to say my information could be outdated by 1 or 2 months. Definitely what I wrote was more general since each artist is different and where they go or decide to sign is up to them. I Haven’t really decided to keep up on events and info due to limited time. Currently the only thing I kept track of is who’s doing commissions and mail ins since that’s more accessible.

Everything I wrote is public information since it’s either posted on twitter or Japanese websites that are hosting the artists.

My only assumption I made is why some artists decide to refuse to sign. It can vary from each event from when I kept up with events a couple months ago. but usually it’s due to resellers from China. If you notice a lot of the cards are up for sale by Chinese resellers on different platforms (some American and some Chinese) and they would have multiples of certain cards signed.

I also agree that this should be its own thread and not clutter this one.

Hopefully you had at least some of your questions answered @Pkmnhawaii_collector

I’m super excited to meet Himeno again. It was only for 5 quick minutes but at Charlotte the long wait was worth it to get the rare opportunity to speak with her and to get some cards signed.
