Thanks for the heads up - apparently having a blank line in my spreadsheet stops the script part way through. Who knew?
I’ve fixed it and will be sure to not make that same mistake!
Btw, I’ve removed the Dutch, Norwegian and Swedish Generation cards from my list. I think you are referring to this on Bulbapedia:
I’m not entirely sure, but I think those parts are just added as a translation for the page-titles, not as a reference to actual releases in those languages. For example, on some other pages Land’s Wrath (move) and Same-type attack bonus (just picked some random pages…) I also see those same boxes.
Also, some set are missing a lot or are just plain incorrect. Take the Base Set for example: It only mentions Dutch, French, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish. It’s missing German, Korean and Chinese.
Also, it’s a wiki, so everyone can edit it.
If you ever do come across them in Dutch, Norwegian or Swedish let me know, though.
Also, today I’ve heard that there were never any German Holofoil releases for pre-POP6. The person was referring to the German Holofoil Common POP4 [13/17] that is on my wanted list. I looked on your website (now that it’s fixed again ) and noticed you also don’t have it yet. Have you seen it before and know it exists, or can we assume the person that contacted me was right and we can remove it from our lists?
EDIT: Also, I noticed you’ve added 2 of the 5 cards I talked about to your website (German Pikachu Libre holofoil & common). Also thanks for adding the Portuguese versions; I’ve added them to my Wanted list.
The other three I mentioned are still not on your website, so I will post pictures and let you know when they’ve arrived (if they are indeed the correct languages that I’ve ordered).
You are correct regarding Generations - no proof, only the Bulbapedia resource you shared. That makes sense, and I’ll probably remove it from mine as well - it’s likely those places will see an English release anyway.
POP4 Holo in German was a hunch seeing the pattern in other languages - I had no image proof on that. I typically make an educated guess on some cards and will remove when I get confirmation that things don’t exist. Where did your source get their information, if I could inquire? Is there a site they were using? Always looking for solid foreign site resources to look at.
Added all of the Libre Pikachu, the surfing promo coming out, the base set reprint, the WOTC 1 and WOTC 4 reprints, the two new cosplay Pikachu cards, and also am about to add the new 20th Anniversary Festa Tournament Pikachu to the list. I also have the Red/Blue Collection Box Full Art added to the sheet now. I think that sums up most of what I added, if I recall anything I’ll get it into the sheet. I’ve been pretty busy with other things and haven’t been hunting much as of late. Money has been tight too.
edit: also added the “Battle Heart Tin” promo and “Pikachu & New Friends” blister release due later this year.
Oh I also forgot, @quuador - I’ve heard reports that there was an error with the BW Secret Rare Pikachu 115/114 where the lightning bolt in the middle of the card that is supposed to be behind the attack text is non-existent. Do you have any knowledge of this? I was considering adding it but everyone I’ve asked has the lightning bolt in the middle of the card except one person. Not sure how common it might have been.
Thanks for the heads up. I actually re-organized my collection today and will make some pictures this weekend.
I’ve added some of the cards you’ve mentioned to my list. I actually went through your entire site today to see if you had added new ones. Btw, I also noticed you added a Roaring Skies Poland McDonald’s. What does it looks like?
Also, I have one card you can add to your list. An Italian POP9 (without Pokémon Day stamp). It arrived today (picture below).
PS: I also noted I had accidentally ordered it twice from two different sources, so if the second copy has arrived you can buy it from me if you want. (Not sure how much shipping is from The Netherlands to the US, though.)
I looked at my cards and all of them have the lightning bolt print. However, both the German and Italian one has the bolt very, very faint. You really have to look very closely (almost unnoticeable without magnifying glass) to see it. I think that the person who says he has one without lightning bolt has the same as my Italian and German ones: it is present, but almost unnoticeable by the naked eye.
I still have two more cards incoming that aren’t on your list. Since I’m pretty sure that they are legit, I’ll just tell you: POP6 Italian Holofoil and English LPPCollecting Stamp Ivy WOTC 1.
I’ve found a new website for Pokémon Cards (Europe only I’m afraid). In the past three weeks I’ve bought about 70+ cards from there. Mostly Spanish and Portuguese cards which used to be almost non-existent in my collection, but also a few German, French and Italian ones (mostly reverse holos).
When I noticed a seller had 20+ cards of every EX set common in both English and Italian I contacted them to see if they had the codes I was missing. They had each and every one I was missing and they arrived today. I also noticed their name was LPPCollecting, so I asked them about the Ivy LPPCollecting stamp. They’ve send it with my first order for free and it also arrived today (pictures below).
Later on I made another purchase from them (Italian POP6 and POP9) and asked them if there are any more LPPCollecting stamp releases. They’ve stated that there were two LPPCollecting stamp Ivy Pikachu versions, an Italian one with the text “LLPCOLLECTING - PER 2 O PIU’ GIOCATORI” (picture below) and an English one with the text “LLPCOLLECTING - WELCOME TO THE FIRST FUN”.
I’ll let you know when the POP6 and English LPPCollecting stamp Ivy have arrived. Then I will also give you their contact e-mail so you might get them yourself. I also let you know when my duplicated Italian POP9 has arrived and I’ll see if I can determine the shipping cost to the US.
100% confirmation from me that Dutch generations doesn’t exist. I, myself have seen nothing (advertisments etc.) that was Dutch regarding generations/the 20th anniversairy in general, so pretty weird that they have a dutch setname for it.
I’m also Dutch myself (although, aren’t you Belgian?) and haven’t seen any word about it. Justinator had it on his ToBuy-list due to Bulbapedia, but the languages at the bottom of the pages are just a translation of the titles as far as I can tell (since they are also present on non-TCG pages). Probably just a misunderstanding; it happens sometimes.
I prefer to have cards on my ToBuy-list that don’t exist, instead of the other way around; cards that exist, but are not on my list yet. If they aren’t on my list, I’m also not (actively) looking for them…
It was posted on the forums here just a few days ago, by @kubek. You can probably find the thread by searching threads he’s posted. It is English, and looks exactly the same as the US release, except for the set symbol. Definitely different, I double-checked.
I’ll go ahead and toss it in. I figured it was highly likely as there was a Pokemon Day stamp release, but hadn’t added it yet at that point in time. I’ve had an extremely hard time finding information on foreign POP sets… there’s very little documentation to help in comparison with actual sets it seems.
Yeah, I think that’s what it was. Sorry, I was going off memory. I think I’ll be adding that as a variation, as it seems to be something that does actually exist in some quantity and isn’t just a one-off mistake or faded card.
I actually do have the LPPCollecting stamp card on the site, but the version I’ve seen has no additional text below the “LPPCollecting” stamp (as you mention below in your description/picture). I’m debating adding the other two variations of the stamp to the site as well, but am only the slightest bit hesitant as technically they are aftermarket stamps (though yes, I realize LPPCollecting is huge in the card market).
I’ll add the POP 6 ITA Holo though. If it turns out to not be holo be sure to let me know.
pokemoncardmarket.eu? I have a contact that is helping me with getting all the cards I need that we’re able to find there. If it’s not that one, then check that one out too and let me know what yours is! (:
Thanks for the additional info, that’s pretty neat! If you don’t mind sharing an email, I would indeed love to get in touch with them if you don’t mind sharing the contact details! Shipping to the US from most European countries tends to be in the range of about 3 EUR to 10 EUR depending on how cards are shipped, but I am okay with spending what I need to if the cards are worth it. So that is a bit less of a concern of mine. Let me know if you do have the spare!
Thank you for the confirmation! It’s hard knowing details on international releases (or a lack thereof) when the timeframes of said releases vary as much as they do.
This is precisely it - if I have it in the list, at least it’s in my mind that I need to keep an eye out for one. If I don’t have it there, I’m likely not looking for it just like @Quuador.
Hmm, so there are three versions? No additional text, with Italian text and with English text? When I googled images, only this one with Italian text popped up, so I figured that was the one you had seen in the past. Time to contact LPPCollecting again.
Yep, exactly. Great website for mostly Spanish cards, but also French, German, Portuguese, Italian and the occasional Japanese cards (and English of course). Like I said, got around 70+ from that website so far. I already had most French, German and Italian cards from their representative eBays (and usually I contact the sellers to allow for international shipping to The Netherlands if they haven’t got it as an option). For Spanish/Portuguese I had a hard time finding a website, though. So I’m very glad I found this.
Btw, what are some resource-websites you use? I have a hard time finding Korean, Russian, Portuguese and Polish cards. Here are all the resources I use from top to bottom:
eBay.com (for English and Japanese cards and pre-sales)
en.pokemoncardsmarket.eu (for all kind of different languages)
I’m sorry, I dug into my old conversations and found the image. It actually is the Italian text one, so only two versions. My mistake.
I actually do a lot of purchasing from the site as well, through a source of mine - since I can’t have the sellers ship to the US directly.
I tend to primarily use cardmarket and eBay, but I do a lot of networking on Facebook and other forums/sites with users in various countries to try and locate cards that I don’t have in other languages. The only site I would maybe throw out there is frikea.es for Spanish and www.collect-it.de/ for German (though they can be quite pricy). I also had an Italian site but I’m drawing a blank on what it was.
Yup, I’ve added both to the sheet (: One is a participation card, the other can be won/earned if I’m not mistaken? I didn’t really know what to label them so they’ve got temp names until they are officially out and I have a solid name/translation for it.
Ah, I already contacted them… Ah well, in that case they’ll probably say they only have the two versions.
Thanks, I’ll go take a look. EDIT: Purchased one new card from frikea. Every little bit helps.
Same. Usually I copy the names you use and simplify them a bit.
Also, where have you heard about the Chinese POP4 card? A.f.a.i.k. only the Base set (1st & unl. edition) and EX Legend Maker were printed in Chinese. And the Plusle & Minun Trainer Kit which doesn’t contain Pikachu Cards.
Btw, you don’t have the EX Legend Maker Pikachu on your list yet. Although I’ve never seen an image of the Pikachu itself, I know the Chinese EX Legend Maker exists. Booster packs itself are already very rare, though, so the Secret Rare Pikachu will be close to impossible to get I’d imagine… I’ve added it to my list regardless, since it should exist along with the Chinese set.
I didn’t add it because pokemonchina opened/dealt with massive amounts of EX Legend Maker Chinese cards and as far as he can tell there was no SR Pikachu released in Chinese for the set. Until I see confirmation of existence I’m going to leave it off the list.
I’ve wondered the same thing but Joe seemed VERY sure that there were no box toppers or SR for the set. If anyone would know, it’d be him. But if you do ever see one definitely let me know!
edit:
Also, have you seen a German Surfing Pikachu (not the reprint)? I haven’t seen one and one source of mine says it doesn’t exist. I’m starting to believe the source.
Ah ok. Well, then I’m not gonna look for it actively. Perhaps I got it from some incoming Chinese EX Legend Maker packs. I know the chances are extremely low even if it does exist, but I couldn’t resist buying some of these rare packs for my regular Pokémon Card collection.
Nope. I’ve never seen it. I’m actually surprised that some of the former promos are very common to find, and other very rare.
Like the French Birthday for example. I know it exists, but it’s very hard to find (non-overpriced that is).
Or the French Snap (Promo 26). It’s also very rare. I was lucky to find one recently that was semi-reasonable priced on the French eBay compared to some 200+ prices I’ve seen. That one is currently incoming.
Apart from the Upside Down WB misprint and German Flug-Pikachu I’m still looking for the following first gen. promos: French Birthday (24); French Flying (25); Spanish Flying (25); German Surfing (28); and Spanish Surfing (28). The Spanish are just a bit hard to find for me, but I don’t get why the French Flying, German Surfing and French Birthday are so hard to get…
Btw, how does your source know it doesn’t exist? I’ve got the feeling (s)he’s indeed right, but perhaps they are just A LOT harder to find (like the French Birtday or French Snap)?
And someone told me the same thing about German pre-POP6 holos. Since two people are saying the same thing I believe it. I’m gonna remove them from my list.
