How long did this set take to complete?
@wisewailmer, Well it took a little over a year for me but that’s because I came across a seller who had a bunch of No Symbol packs and I bought as many as I could for a while. At the time the population report was much much different. For example there was only three Jolteon 10’s when I graded my first Jolteon. I ended up eventually grading all 16 holos in PSA 10 but it took something like 100-140 holo packs to do that.
Someone trying to put the set together now using Ebay alone would likely be looking at a longer time frame.

On the topic of that listing, here is a direct quote from the description: “All holo cards are in exceptional shape with virtually no scratches and no whitening and no print lines.”
As someone who has opened over 150 holo packs I can tell you that it is extremely unlikely that they are all perfect cards. They look nice but don’t expect gems if you are bidding.

Yeah still 1 nice vaporeon or snorlax and you’re golden these days lol
God im so jealous. The best lgs in my city that even sell pokemon literally refuse to let me go through their vintage bulk. I went in 2 years ago and they said they needed to sort it. went every 6 months or so and got the same answer until corona which changed the answer to “never”. 
How can you tell what a no symbol pack is? I dont know if Ive ever heard of any ways to id it
There is no sure way to tell from the packaging. The way I knew was they all came from a 432(I think) pack distributor’s case and I had already opened several. Every pack I opened from that source was No Symbol. I did save some and if you search through old posts using the key term No Symbol you can see pictures.

i genuinely believe No symbol Vaporeon -psa 10 will have a t17 type rise with its next sale. I dont get why No symbol is priced the way it is. I get that it probably had a full print run, but you can’t get pack fresh no symbol unless you get very lucky. You can have an idea that you have a decent chance of getting shadowless, but you cant with no symbol. YOu either buy unlimited and get really lucky or you try and find raw. Either way, best of luck. Pop report shows you wont have a good time. And in the fact that Vaporeon is not easily obtained in any variant. 1st edition is never for sale and unlimited is also very low pop.

This upcoming auction will be an interesting note on the state of no symbols since they’re all pack fresh
But maybe I missed out on the reasoning behinf the T17 hype but that seems like an impossibly high jump. I tend to avoid jumping into the latest hype card craze since I cant handle the hectic nature without losing my mind.
It sorta seems like lugia 1st ed has stabilized in psa 9-8 grades
by no means did i mean it would catch up to t17. Im saying from one sale to the next. steep incline and will bring attention

It makes sense because technically you can hunt 1st ed t17 with just packs or boxes, you cant hunt pack fresh no symbols at all. You can buy graded or wait forever for pack fresh cards to appear in the sea of garbage

You really are a genius. I graded something like six or seven pack fresh Vapes and only one got a 10. Also a good amount of the existing 10s are in strong collector’s hands and I don’t see them leaving any time soon. Of course my opinion will always be bullish on these cards considering my passion for them and my large position.
