Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a card I recently had graded by PCA (French grading company), because it seems to contradict what is commonly said about Jungle Electrode 18/64.
-
Language: French
-
Set: Wizards Jungle
-
Number: 18/64
-
Edition: 1st Edition (Édition 1 stamp, verified)
-
Version: Non-Holo
-
Artwork: Jungle artwork, not the Base Set artwork
-
Graded: PCA 6 (authentic)
From what I’ve always read, all 1st Edition non-holo Jungle Electrode were printed with the Base Set artwork (considered a “mass misprint”), and the Jungle artwork was only used in Unlimited print runs.
Yet, my French copy clearly shows the Jungle artwork with a legit 1st Edition stamp, and PCA confirmed its authenticity.
I also noticed that in other languages (German, Italian, Spanish), the non-holo 1st Edition Electrode uses the Jungle artwork normally. But for English and French, the consensus is usually “Base Set art only”.
Questions for the community:
-
Has anyone else seen a French (or English) 1st Edition non-holo Electrode with Jungle art?
-
Is this considered a known variant, or is it truly rare compared to the Base Set art version?
-
Any data on how many of these have surfaced?
Photos of the card (front, back, PCA label) attached.
Thanks in advance — really curious to hear your insights!
