JP Set Schedule & Trademarks

None of the cards shown in the trailer have an M era designation, so I think it might be something similar to the 25th anniversary promos or My First Battle cards where both are not tournament legal

Reprinting Crystal Lugia but not Crystal Ho-oh should be a hate crime

All this time, I thought we were competing with Lugia…but it was really Charles T. Zard.

At the same time, I’d like to add!

I don’t think we ever had something like that before? Probably a one time thing, but given that it’s also handled in Pocket that way and recent English non special sets seem to more and more be based on mostly one Japanese expansion, maybe we’re also slowly heading in that direction generally? Only time will tell.

I wonder if all the different languages are just meant as representation for worldwide release and not the actual cards being reprinted. Would be kinda lame if we get reprints of things like Amazing Rare Raikou and that Sugimori Uxie.

Would also like to add, now that Pokémon Winds & Pokémon Waves will release in 2027, there likely will be more sets for the MEGA era once we’re done with the Legends: Z-A dedicated sets (after Storm Emeralda)

Speculation update

  • JP Base released October 20, 1996
  • S8a 25th Anniversary Collection released October 22, 2021
  • 70 day gap between Ninja Spinner (March 13, 2026) and Abyss Eye (May 22, 2026)
  • 70 day gap between Abyss Eye and Storm Emeralda (July 31, 2026)
  • Theoretically another 70 day gap will put Celebration Collection at October 9, 2026

Last year had 8 sets by September and this year has half that. Mad.

Key visual for the Japan Championship Series 2026,

  • ft. all Pokémon of cards that have released (except Mega Raichu X/Y)
  • Mega Raichu X/Y potential appearance in Abyss Eye?
