New trademark, Munikis Zero ムニキスゼロ

Last month, we reported that Mega Zygarde would be headlining an untitled Japanese set releasing on January 23rd. At the time, we speculated the set name could be Storm Emeralda , the trademark we discovered a while ago.

However, some distributors have now listed the set name as Munikis Zero (ムニキスゼロ). Pokemon also just trademarked this name – a rare instance of the trademark appearing later then product listings.

The name is derived from Japanese for “back to nothing,” 無に帰する (munikisuru). This likely refers to Mega Zygarde’s “Nihil Light” move. - Pokébeach

Set trademarks filed have showed to be out of order so there is seemingly little correlation with release date. If Storm Emeralda indicates some non-PLZA content (i.e. possibility of Mega Rayquaza) it will likely be moved back in this case,

Abyss eye is most likely Mega Chandelure, from its pokedex entry: "One of its eyes is a window linking our world with the afterlife”.

One thing is for sure, no Rayquaza gold star @Vertemes

Why?

I saw this vert imposter post on the article. Figured it must be someone impersonating you

You know that’s actually me right?

With the Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC released, Abyss Eye could centre around the new Mega Evolution for Darkrai. Either Abyss Eye or Storm Emeralda could indicate a thematic transition toward Mega Evolutions in the DLC

Mega Darkrai (Dark) : Its dark power blocks out the sun, plunging the surrounding area into darkness. There is no escaping its evil eye. 70 HP / 120 Attack / 130 Defense / 165 Special Attack / 130 Special Defense / 85 Speed. - PokéBeach

Having reached the last ZA mission, surprised there is no Groudon/Kyogre double set to accompany the presumed Rayquaza in Storm Emeralda. Of course all 3 could be in the same set but why rush it when the set would be released in May/June?

With there being only 2 new characters, I have more faith that they will manage to cycle through all ZA characters but getting all new Megas in will be tough if not impossible without double sets - and that’s before they do something dumb like having the latter half of next year have random unthemed sets like how SWSH ended with Incandescent Arcana and Paradigm Trigger.

Already it’s rushed with there being like 2 official sets of ZA (+ HCS/SD100) before moving to DLC but at least it’s better than the 0.5 sets that BDSP got and the 3.5 sets PLA sort of got.

No confirmation yet that it’s going to be part of a May/June set. Ninja Spinner should have Mega Greninja as the set mascot, but theoretically can be in the same boat having the other Kalos starters without crediting them

I think Celebration Collection will be the turning point for sets to move away from Z-A dedicated content and feature older Mega Evolutions like Rayquaza. We saw that happen with Legends: Arceus sets the moment Pokémon GO released

I haven’t caught Rayquaza yet but it’s arguably the 2ndary focus of the DLC to Darkrai, so I’d still consider that to come before CC and also be DLC themed. I feel like most/all of the old Megas are going to be shoved into Pocket because they certainly can’t do both new + old physically.

CC should be BW156 on a smaller scale really, but how many times have they re-released the first partner Pokemon with a stamp or different holo lol.

I suppose the DLC introduced megas besides Darkrai really don’t have much tie-in to the story at all and especially things like Zeraora, Magearna, Baxcalibur and Garchomp Z which have none could feature in the final sets of the era.

This means for JP,

  • Ninja Spinner might be a main expansion [M4]
  • There might not be a subset expansion like previous eras, unless it is a special expansion e.g. High Class Pack, Anniversary set, etc
  • Because TPCi usually combines the March and April JP sets for their May-June set, a 1:1 may indicate there won’t be a JP main expansion in April
  • Abyss Eye and Storm Emeralda may potentially be 1:1 sets for TPCi to follow

Appears to be another set with many reprints (and, surprise, another Base Set Charizard) - I wonder if it well be similar to the 25th anniversary/Celebrations with one part being the reprints and another part being new cards. We’ll see but honestly I expected a little bit more.
