Hello everyone! I’m currently looking for a place with scans and text of japanese cards!
I’m aware of pokemon-card.com, but it lacks the high rarity cards.
I’m not looking for collection/tracking apps.
Does anyone know?

Short answer: It doesn’t exist. Gimme a few more years Cards | The Art of Pokémon
Long answer: nobody has put in the work to catalog every single Japanese card with a high res scan and made it accessible in an easy-to-use website. Scanning, cropping, unwarping, color-correcting, etc takes a lot of work. Lots of sites have low res ones, incomplete databases, or use poor scans.
On the English side of things, the folks at pkmncards have used their scanning expertise and have scans of rare cards in their database.
collection tracking apps may be your best bet as of the moment, I use pokedata.io for JP scans
I am also wondering is there a way to contribute to these databases? Community contributions might help build up these databases yes?
Cheers!
A guy i follow on instagram started this website ArtOfPkm
He’s used some scans of mine and i need to scan some more things for him to upload. It has cards, promotional product etc of any chosen pokemon etc.
Definitely a lot of potential here!
Tbh the HD scans you need for cards you wont find. Its a relatively new database and rome wasn’t built in a day!
But i like it. Having cards, promotional product etc all in one place is super nice!
Somewhat related, does anyone have a high quality scan of an old Japanese card back?
They do! I’m actually trying to survey for a better japanese source for TCG Collector. We aim to have the most complete database ever for every card + variants. If you wish to contribute, feel free to do so! You can find instructions here.
Ye, @kev answered above, he’s the man himself ahahah
Haha oops!!!
To update this: we have started uploading some missing sets - starting with Vending Series 1!
Special thanks to @dromanyte for the help with the scans!
Glad to help TCG Collector with their database …
I’m currently working editing images of other Japanese expansions such as Vending S3.
Images I edit are 1280 x 1788 px
size. If anyone needs the images in that size, just let me know!!!
Absolutely true … I’ve a personal project that is basically editing Pokémon card images in 1280 x 1788 px
(all languages and all variants as possible).
I’ve been almost 3 years working on this project and during all these time, I had to re-start the project like 4-5 times due to I found better scans with time and I’ve learnt more editing techniques in Adobe Photoshop & GIMP.
If you want a very high quality scan you need to invest in a scanner (such as v600) and also invest in the cards you want to scan (price depends of card)
or you have the “free” alternative that is basically editing photos and scans that are available online. It’s a long process that takes long time. Between searching, cropping, editing the colors, cutting the corners (in order to make them look like real cards) can take me like 15-20 minutes per card.
Also, not every card is available online. For some variants I’ll have to ask people for a photo in order to work on them …
For example, this Unlimited XY8 Sandshrew … Photo courtesy of @Typhlosion_Collector … Thank you for the photo!!!
Another update!
We’re proud to announce that Vending Machine Series 2 and Vending Machine Series 3 are also up! Another big thanks to @dromanyte for the continuous and brilliant help with the scans!
In the meantime we also uploaded all the City Gym Decks that were missing from our database.
If at any point you find something that’s wrong, feel free to reach out!
