I joke, of course. But honestly, when somebody hops onto our forums and their very first post is asking for information, without so much as an introduction, a greeting, or anything resembling a warm presence, it’s hard to want to impart our deep knowledge and insider information with that person.
Unfortunately I don’t know at the moment but in my research (as I’m seeking after the same release and promo packs) I’ve come across this article from Pokeguardian about S8a 25th Anniversary Collection. within the article the writer states the following
So the distribution per this links states 4:1 (4 Booster packs for every 1 Promo pack);
Each box comes with 16 packs and each pack has 5 cards per pack (regular non-Promo) [So 4 promo packs per box]
If I can find the total print run then it’s easy to deduce the number of boosters promo packs.
Give me a second I’ll reach out to an eBay guy I made contact with today and inquire if he has any information on the production numbers.
the user claims to be from Japan and told me in previous correspondence that even they (the Japanese collectors/dealers) don’t have access to many boxes as they were not easy to come by.
if I get a response with some information I’ll let you know.
No word back from my email but I think I found an answer for us,
not going to be what we want to hear.
I stumbled across the following post claiming when this individual reached out to get print runs on a different series they were told;
The other post I’ve come across states that this type of information (print run numbers) isn’t generally released to the public.
so maybe it is released to suppliers or wholesalers(?) - I’m going to work on obtaining me a wholesalers license and see if I can get on the distro list of Nintendo for Pokemon cards (I’m planning on doing this based on the roadblocks being encountered on this site with asking for information such as you’re going through).
I’ll keep digging, if I find any information I’ll be sure to share it with you brother.
japanime but it pretty well but, in general japanese sets are far better allocated than their english counterparts. Just looking at the specialty booster boxes starting back 6 years or so (not sure about main sets) both the cp3 and cp6 (evolutions) are about 2k per booster box, followed by sm3 (shining legends) at about 900, sm8b (hidden fates) at about 350 and so on.
So for japanese specialty sets in particular, they will definitely have more constrained print runs than english.
I don’t know about the promo packs, but in terms of the Golden Box Pokémon announced last month that where they’d received so many lottery applications they were instead going to print to demand: www.pokemon-card.com/info/003181.html.
Hey Brother,
did you find any more information?
I haven’t been able to and my email connection I didn’t hear nothing back from.
but just a word of caution, I’m a little suspect of the listings on ebay for this item. the pictures all seem to be the same boxes with different seller pages/names.
I did order a box from a reputable Japanese company that specializes in anime and japanese TCG merchandise. when it comes in, if everything is on the up and up (which I expect it to be) I’ll be more than willing to share that site with you as their prices are pretty decent and fair compared to the eBay listings I’ve seen. the only down side is this company doesn’t offer promo packs with their boxes, but I figured I can buy those separately from another reputable Japanese company later in the month.
