Japan Haul (Pokemon Merch)

Just got back from Japan and thought I’d take a pic of all the Pokemon-related stuff I got on my trip. Not pictured is my coffee-stained Pokecology t-shirt which I wore on my travels back to the UK! Pretty happy with my haul! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

That’s awesome, looks like you had a really great time! Is the Pikachu in the blue bag from the Haneda vending machine?

Great haul! I’ve had my eye on the Pokecology book, but I’m not sure if these type of products see international prints, so I’ve held off on getting a Japanese one for now.

This book (?) also looks really neat. Do you know what it’s called?

This is a super fun haul. I love the pressed coins. Those are something I always try to get every time I see one of the machines.

Holy moly, the art looks awesome. Thanks for identifying it! Definitely putting that book on my wants list (hopefully it’s not too expensive )

Wish that documentary/background video was translated!

The website I linked above the video has much more about the creation of the book and the company behind it.
There are a few other cool videos including how the cover art was made etc.

As for translation, the duolingo owl would like to have a word with you. (jk i deleted duolingo because of all the threats I was getting from that owl)

It is! Sadly they didn’t have any of the airport exclusive Pikachus so it’s just a regular sleeping pikachu plush which I got for my nephew. I felt like I had to use the vending machine while I was there! They did also have some cool airport exclusive stickers which I bought.

I’ve only briefly flicked through the Pokecology book but it’s really cool. I’ve always wanted them to do books about the different regions / ecology / history of Pokemon so I was over the moon to find this.

The picture book is called Pokemon no Shima (Pokemon Island) and was a random find in a chain store called Book Off which sells second-hand books, DVDs, figurines, trading cards, etc. it was shrink wrapped so I couldn’t see what was inside but the cover alone made me purchase it. The artwork is beautiful and it’s a really sweet story from what I’ve been able to translate. Basically about a boy who arrives at Pokemon island as a child and spends time there with all the Pokemon but then has to leave as he’s grown up. But as an adult he revisits the island and his Pokemon friends are there waiting for him (evolved now!). I think it ends with a little girl (possibly the grown up boy’s daughter??) coming to the island. A really touching story. I can’t overstate how amazing the artwork is. I’m tempted to scan and frame some of the spreads.

Just a reusable bag that you can buy at the Pokemon Center. There’s three different sizes and they come with a handy zipper too. They cost basically nothing.
