James Carter Cathcart has passed away. He voiced Gary Oak and Todd Snap and many more. Continued with the TV show even after the 4Kids cull. RIP

James (Jimmy) also voiced Team Rocket’s James, Meowth, and Professor Oak from 2006-2023, across 15 movies and 700 episodes of the anime. Ironically, given his profession as a voice actor, he passed away from complications related to throat cancer.

In other sad news today, this eBay seller waited until Jimmy died to list 80+ cards signed by him. This happened with Rachael Lillis, so I am not all that shocked that it’s happening again. Pretty disrespectful behavior.

The cards were live for around 80-180 usd until his death got announced then the seller pulled the listings then made a post on IG stating he’d make sure only collectors get them with a percentage of the sales going to charity or his family

Easy to give 40% of the proceeds when you relist them each for $250-$500 lol. :roll_eyes: I think that may be even more deplorable - making markups appear as selfless acts for the grieving family.

I sold a Rachel Lillis not too long after she passed (though it wasn’t the next day, and it was only one). I did donate a large portion of the sale to breast cancer research. Felt like it was the best option given the market valued the autograph more than I did and at least it translated into something positive.

You can judge if you want. But I think if it was me that died and people donated money to a bunny shelter or something by selling my autos, I’d be happy.

I think there is a huge difference between selling a signed card that you no longer value as much as the market and dumping 80+ signatures the minute someone passes away. The latter leaves a bad taste in my mouth because the seller clearly planned to profit off of someone’s death. I don’t think those were your intentions when you originally bought or graded the card signed by Rachael.
