New here and not terribly experienced as a collector, so bear with me. Came across a Japanese Gym Heroes Brock’s Golem… with a shattered foil. I can’t find anything similar on eBay. Now I’ve seen my fair share of fake Japanese cards from the era but this looks spot on, just with the added foil. Is this a real card? Sorry, I’d prefer not to attach photos since it’s a live eBay auction - in the off chance it is worth something. Thanks for the help!
No idea what you’re talking about without a photo. If you don’t want to draw attention to the auction try photoshop or Microsoft paint to show what you have in mind
How should I photoshop it, lol? Anyway, maybe this will add more clarity: it’s this card
with the same type of shattered foil as this card on the left, going over the whole card. Does this help?
No, the shattered foil looks different. It looks just like the one in the picture I sent - just like the shattered foil that genuine Pokemon cards use (not like the ones in the image, which I’ve seen personally as well). I know it definitely sounds fishy, but against my better judgment, it really does look real.
Well if there’s no recorded promos or other variants of Brock’s Golem with a shattered glass holo, I would not bid with the expectation you will receive a real card
Oh I absolutely agree. That’s why I posted here - to see if there was a promo of Brock’s Golem that I was unaware of. Apparently (and unfortunately), that doesn’t seem to be the case at the moment.
What do you mean by $30? The non-holo certainly isn’t. How am I to know the value of a card if I do not even know it is genuine? As for why I didn’t post, as far as I understand, there are quite a few rare Japanese promos… and I think I can offer a sufficient explanation without an image.
Just post the card. If someone was really trying to shark you they would be searching for every Brock’s Golem on eBay right now. If you want people to help then let people help.
Alright, alright, I’ll bite. At this point I am pretty convinced it is fake. Here’s a pic:
The reason it’s blurry, the reason I believed it could be real, and the reason I was hesitant to post is because it’s being sold as part of a larger (and pretty expansive) collection.
