Sure seems like a rebrand, all three were owned by Lindberg. Oh and the ceo of this new company is beckett’s ceo. Hmmm
Great spot and I hope this isn’t the case.
Sounds super sus.

I had hoped they would get a completely fresh ownership tbh. Hopefully isacson doesn’t f this up.
Wow CGC sure is putting some serious work on a year on year basis…and also that non sports cards contributed to most of the growth.
It’s because many businesses send to CGC. BGS have disregarded this group. They do have discounts for group submitters but their turnaround times and overall costs didn’t make sense.
With CGC doubling BGS in sports cards last month I think we can officially call it. BGS Date of Death 12/31/2024
Out of my two submissions to BAS, I had issues with the label falling out of its holder in at least half of the cards in each order. It’s just insane. Why continue using this design if it can’t serve its most basic purpose - displaying a label/grade?
I’ve managed to get most of them back near the correct place by smacking and vibrating the slabs for a few hours, but the cases are so poor at holding the label that they will fall out again if I ship them.
These cards are worth significantly more in a BGS/BAS slab, but the whole ordeal is making me want to crack them all out and send them to PSA/DNA for a clean Authentic label.
TL;DR: BAS holders can’t effectively hold their labels and it’s driving me nuts.
I’ve had that happen once and they fixed it for free and gave me a discount on my next order (within 24 hrs after emailing my rep).
I mean it’s not acceptable for sure but at least they fixed it and gave some form of compensation.
Not really. Let’s see how their new cash injection goes and what changes they make from it.
Imo BGS as a brand is well regarded and they don’t need to change much to be competitive.
Market doesn’t seem to agree, it’s quite an achievement you staying positive like that.
I buy assets when they are cheap. I see BGS as being at a low price point.
Brands like BGS don’t really go away in the long run, they just change. Look at Teslas price swings in the last few years.
People fud at the bottom and are euphoric at tops. Bad news comes at rock bottoms (eg. The CEO going to jail + terrible grading volume numbers).
Plus, if there is one thing that is true in Pokémon is that sentiment can change very quickly.
Card people can be quite emotional.
BGS doesn’t need to do major changes to see an uptick in submissions, especially if they cater more for bulk + low value card / business submitters (which are the majority of PSA / CGC submissions).
Their black labels and some Pristine 10s already carry a large premium over PSA 10 so they have that covered. They just need to sort out bulk.
- Lower turnaround times, lower bulk pricing (imo they should do this at a loss to drive submissions) eg. A loss leader if they can stomach the cash flow.
- Scans for standard+ submissions
- Change grading scale to make 9.5s Gem Mint 10s
Not rocket science.
Tldr/ most cards that are graded are low value or bulk, and some by businesses. BGS should be able to change sentiment by getting more of those submissions and increasing is overall grading volume with suitable investment (which they had before but was stolen from them by a parent company).
BGS had been slowly dying for years now and recently was moved to a different hospital. But I’m sure it will run a marathon soon again. I wish you luck.
Really not sure why the negativity is so common here.
BGS doing better is good for the hobby as a whole.
It won’t run a marathon anytime soon, but small wins stack up.
I do know one thing and that’s business. I’ve grown several businesses to 7+figures.
New leadership and market sentiment change is all that is needed.
Ps I own slabs from all companies.
I also own BGS card, I would also like more healthy competition in the grading market, I have grown several potatoes, they tasted good.
I think BGS needs to change more to get back in shape. In that we seem to disagree and that is fine.
Dying is such a strong word… They’ve been declining, but Black labels are still going for exorbitant prices. As long as they don’t shut down operations, they will always have a place in the market imo
Exactly this.
Pristine 10s even get more value than PSA 10s in most cases.
What’s making the data look terrible are declining bulk submissions.
They are important of course, but the vast majority of cards submitted to CGC and PSA are sub $100.
If BGS can tackle that market and be more appealing to businesses (lower turnaround, better pricing and more “valuable” gem mints with a 9.5 to 10 change) I see them taking back some of the market.
