Indents on sleeves

Hi,

I saw once someone said when sleeves come with little indents in them, that can be bad for the card. Is this true? Just asking because I put good card in sleeves and I see some have indents. For better cards, is it best to examine sleeves before putting the card in?

For now, I’ll leave the cards in the sleeves so they’re at least sleeved… but I may have to re sleeve them if the indented sleeves can damage a card

I’ve noticed some of my sleeves I have housed cards in for years have these small indents or manufacturing defects. None of the cards have had any sign of damage or scratching.

I would suggest if you are someone who regularly moves the cards around from binder to binder, try and examine your sleeves on the pricey cards. Any piece of dirt or sleeve defect will cause small scratches.

If the cards are just sitting still for years I don’t think you’ll have to worry too much.

Unless you’re putting significant pressure on the sleeved card, then an indented sleeve isn’t going to affect the card (and even then it probably won’t lol). The main issue with indented sleeves is that they look bad. Sleeves are so cheap that I always just replace old/damaged sleeves – if you’re anxious about indented sleeves damaging the cards, just buy new sleeves.

I haven’t really noticed anything on mine. If the cards are from your childhood, then its possible the indents come from other things besides the sleeves themselves. A lot of mine have little dents and things from me having them on the floor, playing with them, throwing them  and putting them in a ringed binder. Personally I use the KMC perfect fits and ultra pro sleeves, so I am unfamiliar with other companies.

I just have the cards in a tin. I don’t play with or move them.

Just asking because someone told me indents in sleeves can indent your cards. Not sure how, but am curious if this is true.

while I haven’t had any situations where sleeves cased damage to my cards in the way you are concerned about I’m not intersted in having a first time either. I just always make sure to be stocked with fresh sleeves (penny for cards going into loader or savers, KMC for binder cards) and if i pull a sleeve out and it has an indent i just bin it and get a new one. Same if i drop it on the floor or something. The dust is hard to avoid and actually poses more risk.

No one like holo scratches
