Over the new year I will be going to Japan with my girlfriend for a fortnight. I am really excited, and was wondering if anybody has any tips? We are starting in Tokyo but the rest is still being planned…
I have dedicated atleast a full day to Pokemon, so I was wondering if anybody knew of good areas to search? I am looking for sealed product if possible, but will be excited to see anything. Is it pricey? Is it cheap? What should I be looking for!
I think the whole idea of Japan being a mysterious treasure hunt for Pokemon has passed, but @kkthxbai and @japanime live there so they should know all the cool spots to go!
nice to hear that your swinging by Japan. It is alot of fun visiting here, december will be cold, but awesome still
Tons of nice restaurants and food to try, and sweet temples, and shrines and random things to visit.
As per shopping, the best two areas within Tokyo will be:
Akihabara station
Nakano station
These are the two main areas dedicated to anime / manga / games and nerdy stuff. There is shops all over the place selling toys, games, figures, trading cards, and lots of gashupon, arcades and crane machines to play as well.
Best shops will be Mandarake for older items, and then you have hobbystation or yellow submarine for newer items.
Prices are sometimes as high as ebay prices, but sometimes maybe 30-40% cheaper, so yeah, just depends if you get lucky, and you can always check the condition first as well. There is alot of damaged items in Japan, so be careful.
