I boiled a PSA slab, this is what happened.

So I had a little extra time today and decided, well I’ve still got extra test slabs I might as well put them to use.

@garyis2000 reached out to me last year and actually suggested I conduct such a test and throw it up online. While I would have never thought to boil a card, I’m glad I did, it’s pretty fun to watch it actually.

So with most of my reviews and tests I try to apply it to something we as collectors can use to better strengthen our collections from potential threats. So in what scenario does boiling a card help as as collectors? The only thing I could figure is in a house fire, if your cards were extinguished with water and then that water continued to boil as fires run well above 212 degrees. I mean, if your cards were already exposed to fire you’re already in trouble, but do the details really matter?

This was just a goofy fun thing to do. It was impressive to see how the card functioned as it boiled, and for those of you going to 2019 worlds you’ll be sure to see this card first hand as I plan on bringing it with me for all to see.

How long would you say I’d have to steep a slab to drink some PSA 10 infused tea?

3-5 mins.

OK, but will it blend?

Asking the real questions.

All kidding aside, i love to see your CrazyExperiments silverSnorlax- keep 'm coming!

Probably. Just don’t breath it.

Only thing I’d change would be to check it after a minute or so just to see whether it was affect at all after being boiled for that amount of time.

Good job though.

For real though this is pretty sweet. Thanks to these experiments I’m quickly realizing PSA cases are a lot more fallible than I previously thought.

I like where this is going, however I think we need crowd funded at this point.
