Graded. Exactly. Not sure how they’re paying tons of staff plus rent for a massive store in regent street selling packs of sports cards. Gomos said they managed to send stuff to their vault with them so I guess its a somewhat recent change.
I’ve been collecting since I was a kid and started collecting graded cards about 9/10 years ago. Bulk of the value is in e series and ex era PSA 10/9’s. It’s definitely worth going as long as I can take them without issue.
+1 on travel, its not worth the fear of shipping
Make an enjoyable trip out of it. Lots to do in Oregon, Washington, and Northern California. ![]()
I’ve done this before. Just put the binder or graded slabs in your carryon luggage. If you get searched through security, just tell them that you’re carrying some trading cards that are “important mementos” from childhood with you and to be careful.
It would appear the consensus is
Answer: There is no high end insurance in the UK. Go on Vacation instead.
Yes, the last time I sent cards via the Fanatics Store was in February this year.
A trip to Oregon could be fun!
Has anyone actually used HTSUS 9801.00.10 to bring Pokemon cards into the US duty-free? Most collectors I’ve asked seem to think bringing them in isn’t a big deal and likely won’t cause issues. But family and friends that have traveled to the US recently for different reasons have said they’ve been extremely strict and conducted searches/asked questions. It’s making me think I should probably just declare them ahead of time.
This seems like a very good idea if you are importing stuff originally made in the US. I’d do this without a doubt.
Great news from Fanatics Support about the UK store:
I’m happy to confirm that the Fanatics UK store in London is now available and fully up and running again, with services operating as usual.
You can visit the store to drop off eligible graded cards and collectibles for Fanatics Collect Vaulting or sale. Fanatics covers the shipping and insurance costs from the UK store to our Vault in Tigard, Oregon, while standard Vault fees still apply.
Since you’re traveling from Belgium and planning to bring high-value cards, I recommend contacting the store before your visit to confirm its current drop-off requirements and ensure your items are eligible for submission.
Let us know how it goes. Would save me a lot of effort too
Rodolfo, you king.
Lahhhhndan here I come
Did you ask them specifically about bringing high value TCG? I’m going to email them again too because they seem a bit disorganised at the UK store.
I was there last weekend as i was in the area and i did take some cards down with me to grade/vault. They would not take any non english cards for grading (mine were all Japanese) and also said that they would not be able to vault any tcg cards as i also asked about vaulting some of my graded cards in the future. Luckily for me it was only about an hour detour in total but it was quite frustrating having to then walk around london with a bag full of cards for the rest of the day.
That’s bad news! Did you ask them whether it would be possible to send the cards to the vault after grading with them? Or vaulting was out of the question entirely?
Yup, that’s what happened to me. I also got a follow up email from their regent street email today:
The email they use to reply to the contact form said they will forward my question and they haven’t got back to me yet. But looks like it’s safe to say they’re not going to let you vault large collections right now.
Not been impressed with fanatic’s communication or the fact they don’t have a phone number for the UK store. Or the fact that when I called the US number it put me through to an AI bot which when I asked about the Regent Street store it told me to call the number that I was literally using to talk to it…
@highonfire before you take a pointless trip with expensive cards lol.
If you’ve managed to use their grading service I imagine it’s already been sent to the US and avoided any import charges/tariffs and therefore I don’t see why they wouldn’t allow you to send it to your vault. I think if you’re only sending 1 or 2 cards under a certain value the import charge issue might not apply. There’s still a guy at the desk taking cards for a reason so they must be sending some things. But it looks like they’re not accepting large collections.
Sad… Based on the information here and the conflicting information from Fanatics Support and the Fanatics UK store, it seems that vaulting Pokémon cards just isn’t possible.
I was already planning a trip to London anyway, but I guess I’ll need to find another solution.
Flying from Belgium to the US and drop them off in person just for that seems crazy, though.
If only there were a shipping carrier willing to insure the full value. Most services only provide insurance coverage up to €5,000.
If you are planning on taking Pokemon cards i think you are going to be dissappointed. Not only have the specified to me in personbut also yourself in an email.
