I’ll get the ball rolling: since I haven’t used PSA vault, what makes it a worse option than Fanatics, but a better option than something like Alt (or any of the other vaults)?
Yeah, Fanatics UI is really smooth and actually seems like a place where people actually use it. The PSA vault seems like a thing that’s mostly tucked away within their larger app and you kinda feel like you should be doing other things besides using it.
Isn’t it most logical to just use both? eBay-to-PSA Vault is super convenient. I haven’t used Fanatics but assume it’s similar. Just use each respective vault when you buy on that platform?
There is a lot more to just what you are buying in the current times. Lots of people have cards they bought 5-10+ years ago and are looking for options to sell them so they can buy a house, ha!
The only thing negative I have to say about Fanatics vault, is their withdrawal fees compared to the flat PSA rate. PSA charges $1.99 per card after 90 days no matter the declared or insured value.
With Fanatics, especially on high value cards consider them locked in there forever as even 1% on a half million dollar card will set you back a bit.
I’m a PSA fanboy but their vault is awful. Listings often stuck in a bugged state, buy it nows sell and go unpaid, clunky UI, slow redemption. Even the support ticket process is convoluted and often ends in them telling you to contact another department.
Isn’t PSA Vaults access to eBay for selling far superior on average? For the typical graded card between $200-$10,000 isn’t eBay bin the best way to sell especially considering the break on eBay fees when selling via PSA?
The main draw to PSA for me (I have only used fanatics and PSA sparingly to be clear) is that you get to be integrated with the more dominant marketplace.
This is limited to my experience but because they use Stripe they 1) were forced to pay me out in CAD instead of USD which is not great since if I’m putting the money back into cards I have to pay an exchange rate twice. 2) they want all this information including social insurance number which no other vault I have used asks for.
In addition to their ui being poor I find the experience to be poor too. For example I recently took down a listing which does not happen immediately and apparently requires someone going in and manually doing it.
Overall I think Fanatics is an unparalleled service though I’m concerned that it’s actually PWCC that was the innovator and now fanatics will slowly erode the experience. I noticed their customer service used to be fantastic but now they have Rigo the AI-slopbot that responds to requests and it took them multiple days to relist an unpaid BIN item that was already 5 days after the payment period.
I’m not surprised the blueprint for the vault system is superior. However I’m surprised how constipated PSA vault is as their grading experience has improved over the years, purely from a submission standpoint.
As for Fanatics, I’ve been using them since the PWCC days and I think it’s actually better today. The backend was a bit clunkier during PWCC. They improved their payment status and process time. They improved their bulk listings, it would glitch for me during PWCC. Also I recently had to use the customer service, and got a response next day. Maybe I was lucky with timing and/or the type of problem, but I’d still prefer a real human to AI. Regardless imo it’s currently the best way to process graded cards. I recently sent 2M worth of cards that would have taken me much longer listing myself on eBay or using the PSA vault.
