What’s the best way to grade a lot of cards? Basically the safest and most economical way. It’s over 200 cards with some worth $400 and up. Is ludkins a good option or should I just go with psa themselves? Do I have to pay a premium if it’s over a certain value? Thanks!
You can be up charged based on final graded value (which will likely change over the ~8 months you wait for your cards to be graded) but Ludkins has a higher value allowance than PSA direct. If you can stand to wait you may as well send it all bulk besides the really obvious stuff that you know will get upcharged. I have had dozens of $1k+ cards not upcharged through Ludkins but then have had a couple literal $1,001 cards upcharged as well. PSA will be shitty, slow, inconsistent PSA whether you go direct or through Ludkins.
I use ludkins for every submission and they are fantastic. I wouldn’t worry about upcharges unless you have some cards significantly over the $249 threshold, but if they do catch a card over the threshold there will be upcharges.
I’m new to grading as well and I’ve been reading about the upcharge… Do you know how much would the upcharge be if I got, for example, a PSA10 Mario Pikachu Full Art? Just to have an idea, cause I was thinking about grading some stuff… But it could get soooooo expensive if they upcharge you for the mark.
And btw, what about customs? I live in Spain and the UK (Ludkins) is outside the EU now with the Brexit. If my graded cards are stopped at customs, would I pay the taxes with the prices of the graded card?
PS: I saw that there’s a Spanish company that grades cards for the EU called “European Grading”. Do you think that’s a waste of time or is it interesting given that I live in Spain?
Sorry! Maybe those are way too many things for just one post
I’d go with Ludkins if you can afford to pay for the bulk expenses up front. You’ll likely save some money. But if you don’t want to pay for grading months before the cards are actually graded, you might have to grade direct with PSA.
