How interested in a larger binder would you all be?

Hey E4!

I was going over binder options and none seemed to make me happy. The best (imo) is the BCW 12 page binder which holds a max of (I think) 480, but with pokemon that’s never enough of course. My ideal binder would hold 3,000 cards - with a no ring binder of 20 pockets per page. Is that crazy? Or would others be on board with this?

Cheers!

I personally like multiple small binders to sort by sets or themes. I don’t even like 12 page binders because they’re too bulky for my taste. I prefer the dex protection 4 and 9 pockets. However, for someone wanting to consolidate their collection I could see a binder that large being very handy. I also come from the MTG world where I constantly am transporting my cards but all my Pokemon stuff stays at home so for viewing purposes it may actually be more convenient.

Thanks for the input!

I’m more of a viewable collection person and think one larger binder trumps having 15+ for each set, with empty pages that don’t fit. I could even see a larger binder being more appealing to sports card collectors, fit an entire team plus.

That’s a bit crazy. What kind of binder has the structural integrity to hold the weight of 3000 cards?

Yeah I had that thought as well, the weight of 3000 cards is around 8lbs, so the binding would have to be baller for sure haha

I kinda like the idea but I like to put every card in the order it was released. It’s bad enough having to rearrange a 360 card folder if I make an error, 3000 would be a catastrophe :weary:

I feel your pain there! missing one card in the ultra 360 binders is such a ball ache…i just slot it behind usually aha.

0 interested. I would much rather get several binders for each set!

I prefer the (classic) nine-pocket pages. (Who didn’t marvel at those packed with gorgeous cards in '99?!?)

I also prefer binders of manageable size:

A four-inch for my main oldschool collection (an official binder with 'mons on it from 1999)

A thinner folder as a Pokédex, of sorts, of rare Japanese cards

A two-inch for my main post-WoTC collection

A two-inch for all the rest of my cards that weren’t cool enough to make it any into the of previous binders

A two-inch for the cards I hope to sell or trade

*always store anything with rings very carefully!

And I keep my graded cards (only about ten) in a separate pouch (with a Clefairy on it, haha). I don’t think I’d ever want them in a binder

It sounds like a cool novelty item, but I doubt there would be much interest due to its unpractical size.

Honestly, if you made an insanely thick binder and reinforced the (presumably leather or cloth) exterior with metal underneath, I would pay up to $100 for one out of sheer novelty. I’d probably buy two.

But you’d have to make them really, really well. I would not buy it unless it looked like it was worth the price.

100% what Charlie said!

I actually had a 5" binder at one point for all the 1st Gen Pokemon. That quickly became an impossible task. But something that size would be a novelty for most.

Thanks for all the insight, good to know I’m not 100% alone if the right binder were available!

If it would be very well-made I would indeed love a binder like that. I currently use a regular binder with loose 9-slot binders I can add. But since I have over 1,000 Pikachu cards, and it’s not going to slow down anytime soon, I wouldn’t mind a massive binder like that.

PS: Here you can find my current three binders for main Pokémon collections (however, I also have eight more of these binders, four for Pokémon and four for Yu-Gi-Oh, and about 7,500 loose cards in a cardboard box… But those are for my entire collection, instead of just the parts I focus on now.)

A beautiful exterior with stiff page spines that would protect the cards from binder dents, would look nice on a coffee table. Kinda like an oversized coffee table book.
