How do you store your most valuable cards?

In a safe at my workplace. Before sending to the vault.

Double inverse sleeve (inner sleeve opening at top, outer sleeve opening at bottom) in a toploader with a pull tab. I don’t trust myself with the foldable-sealing sleeves. Just need a toploader binder

Only have one sleeve. Havent thought about a double sleeve. Might try it. I have some big sleeves with airspace within. A tighter sleeve inside would be dope I think

Innersleeves are nice, I suggest using regular penny sleeves for cards that don’t need the extra layer of protection, it can get stressful putting the cards in perfect fits, always feels like I’m about to mess up and bend the card in half

@trainerjack a minivault is perfect. 30 years ago we used to go to the bank to keep our stuff in the ā€œlockerā€ as we called it. I don’t know if a vault is the same thing (Norwegian, so not familiar with that word specifically), but it looks big when I google it

What brand of inners are you using?

I find Dragon shield and KMC have a slight fogginess, and prefer Ultra Pro for clarity, but they are sometimes too small…

I use dragonshield inner and outer sleeves, never tried any other brand.

Dragonshield really are the best quality.

PSA, PWCC, eBay, etc all have these ā€œvaultā€ services that let you send the cards to them that they’ll store in a secure and temp controlled environment. I’ve had no trouble with it from my minimal use so far

If you want to carry around your best cards anywhere, I can recommend this 10/10

@trainerjack ok wow, so when people say vault they actually mean the services PSA provided. Didn’t know it was a thing. Thought they meant literal bank vaults, lol. Pretty cool

@Frosty.Puppy definitely gives me the nostalgic feels of my childhood. I would absolutely rock this

If I’m leaving home for an extended period of time I just hide them in a place that’s so random they would be nearly impossible to find.

The only time I have cards of significant value (and a lot of cash) on my person is at conventions. For those situations I found a chest bag/rig works best for me. It’s super convenient. All of your valuables are right in front of your face at all times, you have both hands free so you never have to set it down and team rocket grunts can’t snatch it off you and run.

They also have many other practical applications

Did your wife approve of you to use that box?

I think it needs a bigger conversation.

In a binder? Then again, my most valuable card ungraded is only $250

I am lucky in that my office used to be a bank so the huge walk-in safe is still there. Only I have access to it so its perfect for storing my more valuable stuff. Plus, since its where I work everyday I can also look at my collection anytime I want.

Need to look into a vault option with either psa or Fanatics though. Would feel a bit better yet sad as I wouldn’t be able to look at them when I want.

Wish there was one in Canada I knew of.

I like using cold storage for my cards. During summer, once the snow melts out and crevasses open up on the nearby glaciers, I hike up and lower down the cards into the deepest crevasse I can find.
Then, once winter hits, the crevasses fill in and the cards are protected for 9 more months.
This has the additional benefit of a physical layer of security: glaciers are difficult to get to and not many people have the expertise to retrieve cards from crevasses.
