How are Holofoil Cards Made?

Hey All!

I’ve had this question for a while and I’m hoping to get an answer:

How are Holofoil Pokémon cards made? Is the Holofoil pattern (Stars, Cosmo, etc…) printed OVER the base color? Or is the entire card a holo pattern to begin with?

I would love to see the Discovery Channel release a “How it’s Made” on this topic. Love to have a peek into the WOTC printing process.
