So on the Discord my pal Dizzle and I talk about hot sauce a lot, and because of him I’ve found a lot of great new sauces to try.
Thought I’d make a thread for anyone else to share their favourites or any recommendations, or just talk about sauce.
My favourite has always been the hot and million pepper from spiceoflife, a Canadian hot sauce company.
They only have 6 sauces, but they’re all quality. (this is a mini sampler pic, they usually sell bigger bottles). The hot pepper sauce has the best pepper flavour I’ve ever tried. Holy Smoked has a nice smoky flavour (duh), and million++ if you really like the flavour of ghost lol. Then made from scotch isn’t as hot but has a really unique pepper taste to change things up. I’m not a fan of fruit in hot sauces for the tropic one but my friends like it!
Dizzle also got me hooked on these sauces. I haven’t tried anything else from torch bearer but these 3 are great. The garlic one actually tastes like garlic! And son of zombie is mild but suuuper unique. And then I’m addicted to apocalypse it’s already empty.
Thanks for the read and I look forward to people sharing their faves
But in all seriousness, those sauces i sent ya are the best to me. Ill have to check through my past heatonist orders too but theres a bunch more i really loved but never restocked on. That zombie though will always be my all time fav
We need to get some kind of E4 hot ones style thing going here. Should have pitched that to Radar when I did his podcast haha
So ive heard that specific sauce is basically all burn and like zero flavor to it lol. Is that the case? Just because i wanted to buy it but for that reason i never did. The last dab though on the other hand is much better in that aspect
I got a few seconds of a really good, kind of sweet, pepper flavor and then yeah, nothing but burn. I ate it on a carne asada burrito and could only taste the hot sauce. I’m still pretty inexperienced with hot sauce though, I’ve just used tabasco my whole life haha
haha oh good ol Tabasco, otherwise seen as liquid black pepper to me lolol. But thats understandable for sure. I like a lot of heat but i need it to be tasteful too otherwise i just cant enjoy it that much. If youre looking for some really good suggestions though the ones Mykel liked are my absolute favs!
These 2 here are others ive had which i really enjoyed. The ghost pepper one is one that takes some getting used to and has a big bite too it, but it had a watery-esq feel to it which I know at least for me can sometimes be a turn off. I enjoy thicker sauces more than ones thinned out with vinegar to neutralize the burn, but this was just a fun pick up which was overall enjoyable.
The Aardvark one however fit that bill of thickness to it and also packed some good flavor. I had this while visiting my uncle one day in CT and he let me try this and another by them (forgot the name of the other) but i really liked em each. Reminded me of a stronger basic store bought hot sauce with a lot more going for it. Could easily work as a daily dipping sauce kind of a deal.
I’m a huge fan of old lady sauce, particularly the flavor with black beans. I put it on all sorts of things–one of my favorite things to do is to mix it into eggs before I scramble them.
