Degenerate behavior by Heritage, likely requested by the seller to make them appear as non-personalized signed cards. I think this behavior should be discouraged. Buyers should have a right to see exactly what they are bidding on, not a blurred - more attractive - version.
I’m not sure if it’s to “make them appear as if they’re not personalized” or if it’s in the name of “privacy”.
Either way many Japanese sites, like Mandarake Auctions, will blur out the personalization on shikishi boards to protect the personal information of the seller. So this isn’t totally uncommon or foreign to me.
The blurring doesn’t bother me personally, unless they’re trying to make it appear like there isn’t a personalization, but I don’t think this is the case.
Yes, I see the practice often on Japanese sites as well. I understand the desire for privacy. But if you are selling an item in a Western auction house, it seems reasonable to follow common practices.
Heritage didn’t do this for hundreds of other personalized signed cards/items in the same or previous auction blocks, only these two signed trophies.
It’s to fuji and nido if you were curious
Tbh, I actually missed the personalisation when I saw the listings. Only realised it when I saw this thread. With the personalisation, I am no longer interested in the slabs.
Also doesn’t even seem relevant when CGC has all images available with a 2 second search of the cert.
It’s this for me. Who is buying a slab and not looking up the cert?
@swolepoke while I get this somewhat, it seems deceptive because personalizations definitely affect buyership. If I find an auto I like, but it’s personalized, I don’t want the card at all, personally.
I also agree it is abit odd as the personalization blur if anything seems to be a way to trick somone into thinking its unpersonalized.
Showing the personalization could also be the difference between wanting it or not.
If its signed “to trainer” it may be more acceptable to some then say "to Arther " just seems a bad idea
Heritage did this with a personalized card I sold in 2020 that was personalized, but it was personalized to “ Ash “
But the sale of that card went to a local charity so I didn’t mind. I had the coat of grading in it and that’s all.
