They grade other sideways cards in sports and such so the fact they are sideways wouldn’t prevent it but nobody besides PSA would have that answer for those specific cards. They aren’t very consistent on what constitutes enough proof or documentation for authentication and as we’ve seen on the forum once they make a decision to start certifying something they reserve the right to revoke that at any point too.
Im so disappointed I did not know about this! I seriously wish it had been advertised more! Did @funmonkey54, run this? If so, will this be run annually? I know a potential vendor and would really love to go! I think it would be really cool to contribute to the museum also if that is allowed. I would love to contribute a few rare items to the cause, plus meeting a few peeps in person would be hella fun. I’m just sad I didn’t realize sooner!
-If I’m ever in need of vendors, I may post on E4.
-I design the museum concepts/cases and then locate items afterward.
-You should totally come if we do it again. Over 300 people enjoyed this one! .
It’s a case where advertising was mostly done in circles familiar with the Regionals. A lot of the details that would have mostly appealed to people that are on E4, for example, couldn’t be confirmed until close to the event. So it wasn’t an obvious choice for focusing ads, although it did get a great deal of conversation on the Discord!
If you ever need a vendor or do something like this again, please keep me in mind. I’d love to go and would love to help even. Finders crossed it becomes annual. I bet you could get another 50-100 people with more advertising through efour. I have been waiting 8 years for something like this! Please keep it up Charlie!
Edit: HUGE fan of the smash brothers section. That looked awesome man!
Were you restricted much in regard to the location by TPC? If you had a choice wouldn’t Santa Clara, CA have attracted more people being a standard regional over expanded and being right between San Jose and San Fran?
I have zero choice. I can make requests in advance of the event, but Pokemon picks. It’s also very unlikely that I’d ever do it with a TO that isn’t Jimmy Ballard.
For example: this one was slated for Greensboro and made Hartford later on.
Honestly, the odds of it being in immediate proximity to New York is virtually zero.
If grabbing a flight is a deal breaker for you, I would say you’ll generally be unable to participate in the greater events scene for Pokemon. The only planned regionals right now for next year are all 10+ hours away from NY.
would be cool to convince Nintendo to rotate between east coast>mid west>west coast every 3 years. that being said @funmonkey54 is there definitely going to be another card collectors convention? Does it always have to be in conjunction with a TCG tournament?
