Harry Potter TCG Discussion Thread

130 Point shows 3 recent sales of Chamber of Secrets box for $1000 - $1350. A couple currently listed at 1600 OBO. I’m surprised because they were selling for about 2500 usd for a long time. What do you think is going on?

Just classic supply and demand, nothing exciting unfortunately lol

I find that cards generally do a lot better once crypto has crashed from its cycle peak.

Epic!

Cause those boxes were like $200 not that long ago lol

If anyone has Devil’s Snare promo, I offer 600$, for what it last sold. Hit me up in the inbox, cheers!

Buy mine

Is HP dead?

Hell no!
The box prices most likely will never reach their all time highs but single foil/holos are way more organic in pricing. I got sucked into it big time both collecting and playing the TCG, so I’m here to stay - I might be the only one though…

good to hear!

my question was to get some juice going on this thread as well. i haven’t seen much discussion on this thread so wanted to see what’s going on.

where are you playing the TCG? is it with other fam and friends, or online? Just curious.

I play with a few people locally in real life with the actual cards (which is weird after 12-18 months of…not being able to at all  ) and i also play regularly via untap.in/ or Lackey. There is a FB group that is very active in terms of tournaments, deck list sharing and creating new expansions for the game. They are also working on a dedicated HP TCG client akin to PTCGO but it’s early days.

There is also a group that plays via webcam, I forgot the discord server they use. They are US based and I’m in EU so it’s hard to get it to work with timezone differences, but I hope to join in on that sometime soon.

From a collection perspective I managed to complete the 5 main sets (excluding those crazy promos) and a few signed cards as well. Also trying my luck with grading some with PSA but they seem to be crazy difficult to get 10’s on, especially the character holos.
But an enjoyable TCG experience for sure

Never got any responses from messages (also forgot to check back for a while), so I’ve listed the card on eBay for whoever wants it.

Edit: Sold!

Without modesty, here’s a moneyshot of the world’s unique (and obviously the most successful) Harry Potter TCG collection:

  • All 22 Test-Play (Prototype) cards (the only known set to exist)
  • All 25 promo cards (Including Japanese Backfire (1 of 3 seen), Italian Alohomora, English Devil’s Snare (both 1 out of ~10 known) and English Through the Trapdoor (10-15 in circulation) + all HP TCG League Promos and all Token/Ad cards)
  • Magic the Gathering / Harry Potter cardback misprint (Elvish Abberation) - 1 of 240 printed

Stay tuned this November (and contact me!) to obtain the only true and 100% complete HP TCG scanned digital database - all cards (test-plays, promos and box regulars), all packs, blisters, decks, boxes, literally all (TCG League) posters, leaflets, advertisments, documents, rulebooks, coins, accessories. Out of all 60+ original illustrators of all vintage Potter (TCG) artwork, I managed to ‘‘beg-out’’ a ton of never published Potter TCG artwork, original sketches, paintings etc. Every single illustrator reply, so there is literally nothing else to discover, ever, period. Plus I thoroughly tracked down (over the last 3 years) and downloaded all illustrators’ arts on internet, plus all sticker albums, calendars, diaries, notebooks, chocolate frog cards (all the latters scanned from my own collection), all book covers in all languages, all books’ black-white chapter intro images, all Lego set covers and instructions…

All that in one huge .zip (around 15GB), everything scanned to the MAX resolution:) All cards’ dimensions are about 2000 x 1500 pixels (4-5 MB per card), meaning you can print them on A3+ format and not lose on literally any quality! My cards are 3.7 times larger in pixels compared to the recently digitally fan-made cards which are about 1000x750p.

The digital collection will come with an Excel file where, over 20 various sheets, all ~900 cards are sorted by: expansions/sets, by primary card types, by secondary card types, by alphabet, by Lesson type and by number of Lessons needed to play which makes deck-building amazingly less difficult! Every card also has typed effect text and its book quote, so you have every little info on the card in written form, nothing left out.

This is great for serious collectors, to have it all stored on PC to browse through, to digitally make decks for play, to sort cards any way you want as a preview of how would they look in a binder. All the cards will also come sorted physically in separate folders the same way as they come in Excel sheet, which means the size of .zip could grow about 2-3 times.

Of course, as every fan-made Potter TCG Revival expansion comes out (once in 1-1.5 years), everything will be updated and you can always ask me to send an updated .zip. So now it also includes Chamber of Secrets and the latest Prisoner of Azkaban expansion. Both of those sets are also included in all the Excel card sorts, making them of equal importance as the originals, all mixed up together.

You can also send the images to printing companies (for example MakePlayingCards.com) to make tons of mint proxy cards for play. The cardboard is just slightly thinner, but with these extreme resolution, I assure you proxies will be ‘‘the same’’ as originals.

You will be amazed by the amount of details and hard work put into the database. I can responsibly say that there is not even one single doodle of vintage Potter artwork (which lasted from 2000 to somewhere in 2004-2005, ending up with a calendar) that you can show me (even one damn sticker!) that wouldn’t be in this folder. I hope the uniqueness of the real collection I made can tell about the seriousness of database in advance.

P.S. This is definitely not low quality like that ‘‘Accio Cards’’ page (which I praise, but it only has good quality for fan-made sets); this is really ‘‘next-sh*t’’ level:)

Enjoy history, Pika-pi!

I grew up with HP but didn’t even know these cards existed until like 2019. I love the look of them and especially the boxes! Sadly my funds are limited and I’ve chosen to only focus on Pokémon. Otherwise I would be collecting the hell outta those boxes. Yugioh as well.

Voldemort killed him, but Wizards of the Coast made cards in a memory of him. Actually he came back from the dead, we’re cool.
