Grinds my gears!

Funny story about grab bags.

Back then the the first Neo set came out in Japanese, my sister and I begged our mother to buy a lot that had a “guaranteed” Charizard in it from ebay. My poor mother had to create a brand new account and paid about 10 bucks for it. The only cards I remember were some Japanese Fossil cards and a weird Horsea that was probably a fake.

We were sad little children. :slightly_frowning_face:

I have started reporting when the one clown has like 8 up at the same time.

i would argue that they are still very against policy as the type of rare item you’re “guaranteed” to recieve is still random/ a lottery.

I’m guaranteed a full art, ex or gold star?? is it a gold star charizard worth hundreds or a near worthless ex promo.
Bottom line is these listings in almost all instances are attempted theft. There is no way a seller is going to throw in a gold star zard into a lot that sells for $15 when they could auction it at well over a hundred instantly.

The link I posted I messaged the seller that there is no way he is giving out these cards he has pictured worth $50-$800. He said he is giving the opportunity to people who can’t afford these cards to have a chance at getting them. Yea he may have positive feedback but he isn’t giving out charizards for $4 or $5 bucks.

Those eBay titles really piss me off, also the ones that say “NON-FOIL”, if it isn’t foil there’s no reason to mention it isn’t effing foil, it just clutters the page with non-foils when you’re searching exclusively for foils, makes me want to purchase a cheap “non-foil” one and add a negative for using a bait title in their listing.

To be fair, if it is a specific non-foil variant id prefer it to say so. But agree to add it just to fill the title makes searching frustrating as well as everything else mentioned here, its just plain frustrating

The only time I will say “non holo” is when it is a theme deck exclusive or something of the like and it needs to be called out that this in fact is a different version of a card that is normally holo. Such as the legendary collection charizard or recent theme deck exclusive non holos.

I do guaranteed Full Art/Ex lots. I don’t mention shining. I don’t mention gold star or PSA or anything crazy.

I do put in only the full arts/ex’s that I can’t sell for over $5 by themselves, some are promo ones too, but I gather up about 40 of these cheap full art’s/ex’s take a photo and put it in the listing. I don’t get $10k worth of cards to put on a $19.99 100 card grab bag lot. Many do though and I am not a fan. Every card in my photos is actually included in a lot and there is no lottery style slim chances at anything crazy. 100 cards for $19.99 with a guarantee of an EX isn’t bad IMO and I don’t feel bad about it. The way I see it, most often it is parents buying them for their kids who are either interested just in the fact that it is an EX, or the quantity of cards. At Wal-Mart or the like $19.99 plus tax will only get you 4 packs and an EX promo guaranteed.

This is why NZD’s comment surprised me a little. To my understanding, eBay is (was???) against listings where the buyer doesn’t know exactly what it is they are buying. So, although the buyers have a general idea of what they’ll be receiving (I.e. random commons, Rares, etc), they still don’t know which specific cards to expect. IMO, if they’re just random commons and other low value cards, it isn’t a problem as long as the asking price is reasonable. The ones claiming to guarantee Exs and other popular cards just seem like a good excuse to unload crap at a higher price than what it’s worth.

Atleast you’re specifying the type of rare card people can receive and have a photo of actual possibilities. Whether or not this is against ebay policy however could be borderline.

Here is a link to a seller violating ebay policy by adding keywords that have nothing to do with his listings. I asked him to change his listing titles and he started accusing me of threatening him and I am violating ebay policy by asking him to change his title. Could you guys help me out and report a few of his listings so he realizes this isn’t ok. I even sent him a link of the ebay policy and claims he still isn’t doing anything wrong. Time to start teaching some of these sellers rules are meant to be followed.

Reported his 9 items that listed other pokemon at the end of the title. I find that frustrating, especially since I follow searches with certain “keywords” and wait for emails/notifications telling me something was listed with that info. What a disappointment finding things like these instead…

-sigh-

Thanks for the help, i’m not trying to be mean about it. I have messaged some other sellers that were not aware of this policy and the politely changed it. Some sellers though that get so defensive about it I can not help but to report them.

He goes as far to say “Note (This listing is only for Magneton Gengar and Dragonite are key words)” in one listing.

reported.

Makes me want to buy one he didn’t put that “note” on and then leave negative feedback claiming I thought I was getting a Charizard. blah.

Nothing to report. looks like you won.

What’s your location? They’re still showing for me so I’m guessing it’s a listing that isn’t showing for other countries (unless you’re in the US, in which case I don’t know what the deal is).

Aus, changed to the american site and still cant see anything. it knows…

Everything is still up on my end, later today i’m guessing they will be taken down. If eBay cares about following there own policy.
