Any other Godzilla (or Kong) fans that want to geek out and discuss the movie? I just saw it in IMAX last night and can’t stop thinking about it.
Hoping to see it soon. I’ve been a Kaiju movie fan for a while and recently watched Shin Godzilla (which, in my opinion, is the best Godzilla movie thus far - highly recommend it).
I’ll swing back to this thread once I see it to avoid spoilers!
Shin Godzilla is an amazing movie. I just watched it again recently on my re-watch of all the Godzilla films. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts when you get to see it!
I’m going to see it sometime soon, pretty excited
I’m watching it tonight! ![]()
I saw it last night at home, now i need to see it on the big screen. I want more, a hbo mini series on Hollow Earth.
I never considered a mini-series, that would be interesting. Definitely see it on the big screen if it’s safe for you to do so. I want to watch it again, not sure if I’ll get HBO Max for a month or just go to my local theater.
Also saw it in IMAX last night. Was fantastic! My favorite of the new gen movies right now so far!
@trainerjack, as far as action goes I have to agree. It really stepped up in that department compared to 2014 or even King of the Monsters. 2014 cut away from the fights as soon as they were about to start, KotM showed more fighting but I felt like it was kind of hard to tell what exactly was happening in certain scenes.
I can’t wait to watch it!
Yeah the fights in this were great and easy to follow. Plus beyond hype I just kept getting more engaged as the movie went on.
Just watched it. The action scenes were amazing. I’m glad that they focused more on both Kong and Godzilla, and not so much on humans.
Definitely worth watching ![]()
I watched it last night! I don’t think I liked it as much as everybody else though. I loved the fights, but I really wish they’d cut out all of the human characters lol. I was so bored when people were on screen but it was way way better than the annoying human drama in kotm. I don’t exactly why but I think Shin Godzilla did the human drama way better than the monsterverse movies.
Didn’t even read the post just wanted to say TEAM ZILLA FOREVER, KONG SUCKS!
I’m just going to list some of my favorite moments, I’ll put it in a spoiler just in case someone that hasn’t seen it clicks into this thread. I guess at that point you’re asking to get spoiled anyway but I’ll be nice.
Spoiler
Okay where to start?
How about Godzilla blowing a friggin hole through the earth with his atomic breath? - Peak fiction
Seeing Godzilla on all fours fighting like a damn alligator at one point. It’s not something we’ve ever seen in a Godzilla movie before and it’s so obvious. Like he’s a big lizard, why wouldn’t he fight like that at some point?
Kong using an Axe with a Godzilla dorsal fin that acts as a Godzilla radar was super cool.
In the original King Kong vs Godzilla, Kong pulls a tree out of the ground and stuffs it into Godzilla’s mouth. They referenced that in this movie when Kong put the hilt of his axe right into Godzilla’s mouth which was fantastic.
I really didn’t enjoy the plot with Millie Bobby Brown’s character and the other two. The entire point of them being in the movie was to travel all the way to Hong Kong to pour have a flask of booze onto a computer to stop MechaGodzilla for a second.
Speaking of which, MechaGodzilla was pretty cool. Definitely the ugliest version of the monster but I had fun with it nonetheless. I feel like the only reason MechaGodzilla was in it was so Kong and Godzilla could team up which I was 100% okay with.
Overall, I had a blast with the movie. Not a cinematic masterpiece by any means but it was super fun. Might go see it again soon.
