Foreign Base sets

Which foreign base sets do people feel have the most potential for growth?

This year I have noticed a decent jump in the values on the Chinese cards. I was also surprised at the recent sale price of a Italian PSA 8 1st edition Charizard, that has also increased substantially the past year.

I know 1st edition Korean is niche but it’s rare. I feel it is underappreciated so it may follow the same pattern as Chinese in the future.

Thoughts?

Korean is the most special IMO

I agree with @acebren. Been having my eyes on the set holos for awhile but I just bought a $5000 Pikachu, so I am holding off lol. @fireftw87

Yeah, Korean has exploded in recent years.

Havent paid super close attention to the sets as a whole but Charizards for all sets have been going up quite rapidly. Even German that has quite a few Zards graded is going up a lot. As for which set will increase the most probably Korean or Chinese.

Now you’ve made me very curious. Which Pikachu did you buy?

I will take a pic when I get home . I was holding off to show off my Revamp of my entire collection lol, but for you

I love Korean, but I think I love Chinese even more! Just love the characters on the cards.

Yes I also noticed the increase in German zards, I wonder if it will dip at some point as the pop is quite high?

I find it weird that the Dutch base set doesn’t seem too popular, I don’t see a lot of it around?

all good question.

Italian 1st edition has gone up alot i brought mine 2 years back for £200-250 for the psa 9 italian 1st edition charizard now it goes for £1500+

Portuguese 1st edition some cards on that go for quite alot but some are really cheap.

Korean 1st edition is easy to get and goes up a tiny bit

Spanish 1st edition has had no movement in price for ages

German 1st edition seems to have improved alot in price.

Japanese no rarity apart from the charizard raichu and venusuar all holos seemed to have had tiny increases but not alot.

chinese 1st edition seems to have increased quite abit in price but not too much.

Dutch 1st edition the charizard has increased quite alot but the rest of the holos have stayed the same price

french 1st edition there is just so many of them that the price has stayed the same for all apart from charizard

and unlimited well they hardly ever get graded but really hard to judge but korean unlimited is the hardest to get

Korean is that easy to get? I feel like the listings are skimpy and rarely see any of the cards graded. I havn’t seen the infamous PSA 10 Korean Zard pop.

There’s a guy in the Netherlands that has a lock on the Dutch 1st ed graded cards. He has over 80% of the graded cards and won’t budge on his prices. He alone has destroyed the market for Dutch cards. I’ve gave up trying to deal with him.

Sweet! I was so tempted to buy one of these, import fees would’ve killed me though. Do we know the actual gold weight of this piece?

Korean 1st edition is fairly easy to pick up at reasonable prices. The majority of holo’s are on eBay now for around $40-50 dollars PSA 9 which I still think is a steal.

Unlimited is another matter!

Ahh ok makes sense then. Do they have a eBay account? Just wondering who it is?

The cardhouse guy. Real dick from what I’ve heard.

That’s the Ebay guy; Cardhause.eu and also an E4 member.

Yeah in psa 9 they are a walk in the park if i had like £5000 i would be able to buy around 4-5 holo sets  Italian and portuguese are alot harder to find than korean 1st edition

I tried looking inside the box and online, I am unsure to be honest! I may have to do a little more digging.
