If you want to insure it sure, personally I never insure and just go with FedEx international priority (3 day with signature), insurance is just an annoyance and needless expense IMO. I’ve said it a lot before, but the money I’ve saved not insuring means I could literally lose a $20k+ package and still be better off then if I insured everything I’ve bought/sold.
Anyway I trust FedEx to not fuck up, while I have a much lower opinion of Auspost, USPS etc. A lot of people I know use FedEx and send 5 figure packages uninsured.
have you heard of packsend? any decent experiences you have heard of? there is a service centre near my house so i could go drop it off as one parcel and they have no limits on insurance, quoted me a price similar to australia post but the package will be in one box.
I’ve used them domestically when I’ve had large collections shipped to me, no issues. They’re just a reseller, they’ll send your package through whatever gives them the best rate eg. FedEx, TOLL, UPS, DHL etc.
If you use them go to the service center and talk to someone to make sure you’re covered if you want to insure. A lot of carriers have fine print with payout caps and exclusions on specific goods categories yet still let the sender purchase the insurance, even though they’re not actually covered if anything happens.
