Ex Holon Phantoms - MJ Holding Blister pack

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone here has seen this product before.

I recently acquired a sealed MJ Holding Pokémon blister containing a single EX Holon Phantoms booster pack. I’ve been trying to research it but haven’t been able to find another example online or any completed sales.

Here are the details:

  • Manufacturer: MJ Holding Company LLC
  • Copyright: 2006
  • UPC: 820650103711
  • Front states: “1 Pokémon Pack”
  • Original retail price sticker: $3.47
  • Contains a sealed EX Holon Phantoms booster (Mewtwo artwork)
  • Back code: ebj/abc/0606

Photos of the pack:

After searching Google, eBay, PriceCharting, WorthPoint references, and various forums, I haven’t been able to locate another blister with this exact packaging or UPC.

I’m mainly trying to answer a few questions:

  1. Has anyone here ever seen this exact MJ Holding blister before?
  2. Was it exclusive to a particular retailer (Walmart, Meijer, Kmart, etc.)?
  3. Does anyone know whether these early 2006 MJ Holding Pokémon blisters were packed directly from distributor inventory, or were they already using secondary-market booster packs?
  4. Does anyone have old advertisements, distributor information, or photos of similar products?

I’m not looking to sell. My goal is simply to document it and learn more about its history, as it seems to be surprisingly difficult to find information on.

Any information, photos, or personal memories would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Doubt that person will have any more information (they look like another livestreaming account selling product) but at least it’s proof of another one’s existence.

As for MJ Holdings, I believe they scoop up product that’s in abundance and repackage it to squeeze more money out of it. They used to do that with Yu-Gi-Oh Mystery Power Boxes/Cubes and fill them up with packs, decks and products that coincidentally had recently been reprinted in large quantities and distributers were probably keen to get shot of, even if they had to sell to MJH at a discount.

The interesting thing about that blister is that they actually went to the effort of extending the pack artwork onto the card backing, something even the official blister didn’t do.

IDK that the pack art has been extended onto the packaging. I think it’s a close-resemblance coincidence. The other packs on the back don’t have that same artwork, nor similarity. I also remember seeing these with Jungle boosters and base 2 decades ago: non-official self hangars with funky artwork or font.

MJ themselves are legit, the pack is cool and generally they do two things I believe to make them. Break down sealed product and repack to increase margin or use damaged product that is open and take packs to repack. Either way very cool piece!

No, these were all over. I remember buying one of these from a local sporting goods store (Dunham’s). I did get a light pack (possibly both were out of two blisters?) so was afraid they could be weighed.
