Evolutions box is ~120 while its PSA 10 Charizard is $1500?

My only real question is…Tim.Wins…bro…how much evolutions do you own?

Enough to buy one of those $30k Bulbasaurs!

Newbie question…have they ever reprinted a set for just collectors, aka a set out of rotation?

I saw roaring skies was mentioned. Wasn’t that reprinted for competitive reasons? I’m only aware of reprints to keep the price of the competitive game down. With current boxes at +200 a lot of people can’t even afford to play the game. I would assume they are prioritizing those sets that are still in rotation and trying to get the price down.

Disclosure: I bought evolutions sub $100…to the moon!

The notorious Roaring Skies reprint happened in early 2017, when the set was still in rotation. I believe it rotated out after Worlds that year. To my knowledge there has never been a reprint of a set after the set was already rotated out.

Guilty… I bought a couple ETBs at around 190 today. Figured after not seeing them stocked at Walmart the last few weeks that supply is drying up. Relative to other in-demand ETBs and the booster box price - they seem quite undervalued.

Maybe I got my words twisted around from my original point. I don’t think they’re as equally likely as I think they’re equally as unlikely.

@jcicny101 I actually bought a box off Rudy back with they were only ~80 shipped lol. I also bought a case when they were around $100 a box. The real question is how many boosters I’ve opened … that I couldn’t tell ya :ninja:

Haha @zorloth loves to argue. You can tell what hes studying.

I’m thoroughly enjoying people talking themselves into missing the boat with Evolutions.

Can’t wait to hear their crying soon enough

he did a PHD in pokemon studies, you can’t win against @zorloth, he will put you in your place

Tim WINS this argument. Two specifik people in here are so biased (and angry?), that they missed the boat. Why keep talking it down? The Evolutions set is iconic and brought a lot of people to the hobby or at least back to it. And for reprint, stop yourselves. This set will not get an excact reprint. Stop being mad about missing $. Enjoy the hobby and focus on other sets that brings you happiness instead of this nonsens.

I don’t think anyone wins the argument yet man, time is the ultimate decider, I want to come back to this thread in 6-18 months and see what the progress is:

What will happen to the card prices, given an increase in supply? (Hundreds of thousands of evolutions cards rumoured to be sent, guys I think some of you may be underestimating the severe quantity and how this can impact price)

Will this affect the box price?

Will the box price go up or down?

Will the set be reprinted?

10s will always be desired with this set due to its horrendous print quality - my forecast is that there will be a glut of PSA 7-9s, but people crack these boxes for two things: fun and the hope for 10s - these parameters will not change and as long as there is no huge supply increase for the boxes I don´t see them significantly decreasing in price. Full disclosure, I have exactly one box of this set for my collection, so I´m not sitting on a bazillion cases of it.

Your Evolutions 10 Zard has increased from 154 to 197 in the last 3 months. In my opinion we could expect this number to be 1000+ within the next 24 months and not that rare any more

That could very well be, but a higher pop doesn´t automatically equal lower prices, as can be seen with price increases in the regular base holo as well. You also have to recognize that while these 43 PSA 10s have been graded, over 2000 9s and 1000 8s have been added to the pop. The demand for these cards - as well as the availability of course - is outrageous, it shouldn´t be underestimated.
There is also holos in there that are still pop 0 (Chansey…) or very low pop (<20) in general.

In 18 months all those low pop cards won’t be low any more, there are just so few total submissions for them so far!

Sure, the pop can and most likely will increase on all of them but that doesn´t mean that these cards will automatically be worth less/nothing.

Yes, time will tell. This set may decrease and it may increase further. But im confident, that it wont drop to the $100 - 200 range even IF this is a bubble. I wont even consider the “reprint scenario” cause it wont happen.

You are right in practise, it depends of course what people do with them, do they all put them up on the market, do they keep them off the market. I’m not saying they will be worth nothing.

A 10-fold increase in supply would decrease the price of any card in my opinion, theoretically it’s supply and demand

I agree, unless it gets reprinted, however unlikely people seem to think that is
