Has anyone suggested that the box price will go back to $100? Unless a reprint happens (which is unlikely), the box price will probably never get back to that point within our lifetimes. Personally, I have no idea if and by how much it will retrace – but I do know that it’s highly possible that it will. Some others (not you) have suggested that Evolutions boxes are almost certainly not going to retrace, and that they may even reach 5-figures. In my view, that’s straight-up misinformation.
I remember saying 1k for flashfire was too much, I remember saying $500 for phantom forces was too much, I remember saying $100 for shining legends etb was too much, I remember saying $300 for ancient origins was too much… Shall I continue lol. Evolutions is still a top tier set from the “modern” (if you can still call it that) era. And every time I tell myself not to buy more “modern” product because it was mass produced, there’s still so much quantity, no one will want it etc, etc, I always regret it. I think many people are going to regret not buying any at $800-$1000… But at least this time it won’t be me lol

Galaxy brain move, i’m guessing those “light PR moves” from Pokemon about reprinting might scare some more less experienced scalpers.
I’m still seeing a couple cases around $6,900 on eBay
I see 3 that are under $7,000- one of this is an auction with 40 bids.
Would be interested to know what the buyer paid for that $7,500 case. Sometimes people do pay a little extra because they like the seller or location, etc.

Unlikely (based on consumer predictions) is very different to 100% certainty!
PTCG has printed 71 expansions over the past ~18 years. There isn’t 100% certainty in anything with this hobby, but if they decide to reprint older sets maybe you got a 1 in 71 shot they reprint the box you want.
Seems unlikely they print anything not in format for 2021 considering they can’t even produce enough current sets to get them on shelves.
You think they’re equally likely to reprint Evolutions as Skyridge, EX Sandstorm, or EX Deoxys? lol
If they are going to reprint anything it’s going to be one of the most popular sets of all time (i.e., Evolutions).

No, I didn’t say that at all. The 71 expansions I am referring to are only PTCG sets. Skyridge is a WOTC set and they won’t touch any of that.
I am saying take your pick out of the 71, because if they’re printing out of format sets then they are all just as likely and unlikely to happen.
They can’t even keep up with current prints, why would they reprint old stuff?
That would be a bad business decision.
They should have printed more Vivid Voltage and Shining Fates

For some reason when people see the word “reprint” they interpret it as extending all the way up and down the decade lol.
Makes no sense to go after sets that are out of regular format regulation.

They both had their regular scheduled print runs, are out of print, and out of format.
If they open the reprint floodgates on everything why would one be more or less likely?
It wouldn’t be opening the “reprint floodgates” to decide to reprint literally the most popular set of the past decade (Evolutions). Not to mention that Evolutions was in print as of 1 year ago. Reprinting something that was reprinted a year ago is much more likely than reprinting something that has been out of print for 15+ years (EX Deoxys). Not to mention that there’s a HUGE amount of demand for an Evolutions reprint. Whereas all of 3 people want EX Deoxys to be reprinted lol.

Evolutions wasreleased in Nov. 2016, so they’d be going back almost 4.5 years from initial release.
When Roaring Skies was reprinted in Jan, 2017 that was only 1.5 years from the initial release date, and because there was an initial low supply the first time around.
Evolutions was printed for 4 years. Anyone that wanted a box/case/fpallet at MSRP had the chance. Even a kid could save enough for a box in 4 years.
Personally, I don’t see them going beyond the timeframe of the Roaring Skies example. Staying within that 2 year period more than makes up for the Covid production delays causing the current modern set problems. Evolutions has nothing to do with it. Neither does Deoxys. So if one gets reprinted, there’s no reason not to reprint any other set back to 2003.
If you genuinely think that there’s an equal chance that Evolutions and EX Deoxys are going to be reprinted (like a literal indistinguishable reprint), then I’m not sure what to say.
Just to reiterate: Evolutions has been out of print for 1 year. EX Deoxys has been out of print for 15 years. I think it’s a reasonable assumption that TPCi is more likely to reprint something that has been out of print for 1 year than something that has been out of print for 15 years.
Does that mean I think they’re going to reprint Evolutions? Having researched past reprints, I honestly don’t think they’re going to. But to say that Evolutions is no more likely to be reprinted than random EX Series sets is totally ridiculous. There’s more demand for Evolutions than all 16 EX Series sets combined. That alone makes it more likely that they’ll reprint it.

Somehow - I agree with both of them. Evo is an old set that won’t likely get reprinted, but it’s also more likely than other old, out of print sets to get reprinted.
I might be going out on a limb - but I think they might both agree that the sets to most likely get a reprint are sets released in at least 2019. I think I’d compare evo to hidden fates before I compare it to ex deoxys.

. Because I’ve already made clear that I think it’s unlikely they’ll reprint Evolutions. And Tim.Wins has made clear that he thinks that Evolutions is equally likely as EX Deoxys to be reprinted. So I think we fully agree lol. Ultimately, it’s a kind of pointless argument. But his assertion that Evolutions is no more likely to receive a reprint than any of the other 71 sets released since 2003 was so outlandish that I had to respond to it.
