Is that Lisia just??? Cut up??? Like someone chopped up the edges???

I think for a lot of high end cards shops tipically just display a paper copy of the card as safety against theft, so that is most likely just a piece of paper.

The sheer amount of photos in this thread made it so fun to comb through, thanks for your efforts! Would you be comfortable sharing the names of the stores you visited, even if only some?

I’ve been dreaming of Japan all week, and went so far as to google maps walk down the street in Akihabara. Let’s keep this train rolling!

Dumb question maybe, but do most of these shops allow you to look at the cards out of the cases/counter? I just imagine them getting annoyed asking to pull tons of cards out to inspect.

Yes. You just ask and you can inspect the card, and outside the sleeve is usually okay too. You gotta be careful not to drop anything though. I did that once lol.

Wow. Saying this would be definitely be one good way to get yourself fired lol. Even went with 外人 written in katakana like they’re some kind of alien lol.

Right? That’s what I assume.

Yo was that No Rarity Nidoking partially cut off? Not sure what’s happening in the picture haha

Oh maybe it’s the paper copy thing

These pictures are a good reminder about how many high-end Japanese cards remain raw and in Japan. Sometimes I see arguments about supply for graded Japanese chase cards (gold stars, crystal cards, exclusive promos), but few consider how many copies exist outside of North America/Europe.

It’s a tough pill to swallow when you see that many high-end cards in a single store/binder/collection. It sure can make you second guess your preconceptions on rarity vs scarcity in the Japanese market.

Here are some updates.

Awesome – quick glance but that’s a good deal on the Stamp Box. 39,800¥ or about $300 USD, which is only a little more than what I paid for mine a year ago. Plus it probably comes with the stamps too since it’s being bought within Japan!

I truly cannot wait to be in a position to take a trip there and spend irresponsibly. Let me know if you see any Fan Club Eevees!

Also I’m glad I picked up the Pikachu AR set from VSTAR when I did – doesn’t look like it’s coming down any time soon!

Wonderful update. Must be fun to peruse through so many shops with such variety of cards. That Tamamushi University Magikarp seems to be at a great price, or atleast a very competitive pricing. Wonder what condition it might be.

Thanks for the update.

Cheers!

Agreed, I would snatch that thing up for that price.
