Eevee Fake 1st Edition Stamps

These 3D stamps for the English Base Set are actually a known variant.

Some more info about that stamp, as well as some other 1st edition stamp variations, can be found in this 1st edition stamps article.

I agree that some of those Team Rocket stamps look pretty messy, though… Especially this one:

Thanks for the info. Yeah i know about base 1st edition 3d the pic i put up was just to show close up of how messy the black ink can be in places. Jagged not clean etc. Whats v interesting about the link is the 3d thinner stamp as the more variations in genuine stamps the more likely rocket has several real stamp variations aswell. Id love to see the 2 smudged rocket 1st edition cards that members kindly added closer up like i posted v recently to have a good compare of the 3 stamps.

Was looking through pinn033’s great collection and spotted this. Seeing them lined up together you can see the differences in clarity of various cards…

Beaten up a bit but its still a beauty.

I cannot quite explain why, but this thread makes me not want to collect 1st Editions anymore.

Not for fear of fakes or frauds, but because seeing how infinitesimally inconsistent they can be from one another has demystified them to the point where they just feel like… ink. The illusion is gone. Nothing means anything anymore.

Sorry you feel like that. My intention was just to show off what i thought was a neat little error. Ive never looked into this level of detail until now. One good thing is that everybodies cards are unique not one identical and thats pretty magical in my eyes.

Don’t be sorry, lol. I’m a longtime 1st edition collector. I’m just being dramatic.

I know what you mean. At the end of the day we are all just collecting inked cardboard one way or the other ĀÆ_(惄)_/ĀÆ

I do actually feel the fear and stress of fake 1st Ed stamps but I don’t let it stop me. I just have more to learn about the variations and what to look out for. The fun and the chase outweighs the stress for me.

Wait until you find out what the rest of the card is printed with!

Imagine paying 100k extra for an ink blob and a plastic casing.

There are allot of differences in the cards that people don’t realise like colour differences and bold tekst,… It’s because this was pointed out that people (myself included) realised an inconsistency was under our noses all along. I wasn’t aware of the 1st stamp centering but ive been looking into colour differences for ahwile now and there is a bunch to find. For me these inconsistencys actually hold more value because they can teach how cards are made and they just are more interesting i think. ^^ if more people would learn of these centered 1st stamps i’m certain some weird stuff would come up. Hehe

I got you! If anything came from this thread it’s a reminder that wotc’s qc wasn’t ideal.
