I actually think this is indicative of one of the many reasons eBay switched to their own payments. I can imagine PayPal fighting them hard on this one, and they basically would have had no control in the past. Now they do with their own payments.
There’s definitely a loop hole here that I’m sure ebay has evaluated in,
Shipping to PWCC Vault
Shipping to 3rd party reshippers
If I am a buyer who sees that the address I’m sending to is PWCC vault and know that PWCC vault takes weeks to curate, then I could ship you a totally different card and know that you’re screwed. Same thing goes with if I see you’re using a 3rd party reshipper. I have long thought that some sellers on YHJ are aware of selling to buyee accounts and take advantage of that fact (in some way)
That said, I can’t help but think if this does happen, you will still be able to sort something out. This new rule is meant to solve the 99% of problems. Think of it this way, let’s say they were getting 1000 return requests a day for “doesn’t match description” and spending hours of customer support time resolving, refund fees, etc. and this turns that down to 25 per day, that’s a huge win on eBay’s side. In the case that you highlighted not only would a seller be risking their reputation, I’m also sure that ebay would work with you and resolve it as a “one off” and thus make it 26 for the day. Of course this isn’t anywhere in the details but I’d be very surprised if ebay didn’t work with you in this case.
This is mean to be a blanket reduction in volume, increase in seller protection, reduction in buyer scamming… with a few one-offs in the event of really shitty people
Not great for buyers who work away from home, I’m away every second week for a full 7 days! Hopefully this doesn’t get implemented for ebay AUS otherwise I’d be a sitting duck for scammers.
Ooof it only helps those sellers not offering returns. Long term sellers should be offering 30 day free returns anyway (invaluable account protection) and this has no positive effect for them…
definitely not feasible to perfectly time every shipment, and having a package show up at my work location while I’m not on shift would be the last thing I’d want to happen.
Lol I had a return and they damaged the item and that is what ebay said. Risks of selling online, we are not an insurance company XD lmfao. Joke! itll become like amazon where you can return nothing and get away with it or send damaged goods and its fine. that pissed me off, they kicked up a fuss(buyer) I did everything I could and offered them full resolution but they still forced a return and sent it back missing cables and damaged.
Its not about saving a few cents on a final value fee its about full account protection. The large eBay sellers that do this for a living will know what I’m talking about. The smaller hobby sellers this is great for them, enjoy the perk
