eBay Messages

I just received this message this morning about one of the items listed for sale on my eBay, thought everyone here could get a quick laugh from it. This is like going to the box office of a ball game and telling the people working there you’re going to scalp their tickets for cheaper

I’m sorry but isn’t this card included in the theme deck? Is there a race to be the first to have a 10 whenever a new card is released? I just don’t see the positive economics of sending in a pretty common card to be graded with fees being about 75+, granted the card is listed at 2k. It seems like a huge gamble to me.

kind of weird, but technically not a sin

It is a race to sell to idiots who think ‘charzards = always rare, always go up’, basically. Take note that he wants to be the first one to sell because he knows that other people are going to get their graded cards PSA 10 and then start listing ASAP. Flood of supply comes to the market and then sellers start doing a race to the bottom, especially if buyers don’t come in to buy them.

The more I look at this market, the more I am starting to realize that certain cards are definitely in a speculative frenzy or at the very least, there are buyers who are buying stuff who don’t realize that they are paying way above market. It is more in the modern cards though. I’m seeing PSA 10 cards go for $200 when there are ‘pack fresh’ raw cards going for $5. Who knows if these are real purchases or just phantom listings designed to distort buyer’s ability to determine fair value for an item.

I also see a lot of people making mistakes like ‘low psa pop = rare’ and ‘there is only one PSA 10 on ebay right now!’ and ‘one sold for [insert new record high price] last week!’.
