How to price PSA 8.5 Cards?

Hi,

I was wondering what sort of premium PSA 8.5 usually commands over PSA 8?

I tried searching through ebay sold listings and it seems to vary… sometimes PSA 8.5 is the same exact price as PSA 8, sometimes it is 15% more, sometimes 30% more.

Is PSA 8.5 worth more than PSA 8? I figure people are trying to complete sets of PSA 8 cards but who is making a set of PSA 8.5 cards?

I have yet to see PSA 8.5 going cheaper than PSA 8 but I have seen them at the same price.

Thanks for your thoughts on this subject

I’d say it’s roughly the same price, but it can vary a lot especially on higher end cards. I’m personally not a fan of half grades(except BGS 9.5s).

Thanks for your input.

I found some guy selling two PSA 8.5 cards a smidgen below the price of PSA 8s and figured it was an good buy… I don’t usually collect half grades but I thought it seemed like a deal.

Seller asked me if I wanted to ‘pay 2$ extra for tracking’ which was alarming that he was fine sending 900$ worth of cards without tracking… he must be new to selling pokemon stuff.

man was really gonna stuff a $900 psa slab in a plain white envelope. just when i thought i’ve seen it all

Meanwhile some sellers have cards at $2 + $3.99 for tracking lol

You can go and tell that seller that signature confirm is required $750+

That would be quite the mistake to get that shipped with stamps…

If I collected psa 8s I wouldn’t mind 8.5s at all, I would just see them as strong 8s, if I collected psa 9s on the other hand I wouldn’t be so keen on 8.5s. When it comes to higher end stuff the price definitely increases for 8.5s over 8s, for example bgs and psa 8.5 1st ed zards definitely sell for a fair bit more than 8s.

The seller made a whole bunch of (would be fatal If I was a scumbag) moves. He is begging me to scam him, and I won’t, but the next guy probably will.

First of all he wanted to send the package with ‘no tracking’ for $1.50. Or 4$ for tracking.

After we had a deal he got surprised that he didn’t have 900$ in his paypal account and told me I shorted him. He then proceeded to demand 10$ so we can ‘split the fee’

It’s also against paypal rules to make the buyer pay a fee (especially after you have a deal and the buyer has paid), so if he tries any BS, his paypal account will get a strike.

This guy is selling a CGC 1st edition Base Zard on facebook, I bet he gets scammed for 25k$$$

The day my cards come in I’m gonna send him a message explaining the 4 or 5 mistakes he made. I hope he doesn’t sell the charizard and ship it in a PWE before then.

Insane and mind-boggling that someone could be so inept and out of the loop of what it means to participate in online commerce.

for my 8.5 card, i value mine/would list it for 25% over an 8. a 9 is about 100% more than an 8 in my case.
