Hey guys,
A person with 1 feedback recently bought an item me. I was paid, item was shipped, and the item was marked as delivered on the 18th.
Today, at around 9:00 p.m, I received an email from ebay stating
"We had to cancel bids for the buyer, *******, because they aren’t registered on eBay:We recommend you take the following actions if this buyer won the item:
If you haven’t received payment, don’t complete the sale or send the item to the buyer.
Don’t communicate with the buyer directly.
Verify any payments you’ve been notified of by logging into your payment account (or other online payment service).
If the buyer requests a refund or additional payments, don’t send any money without contacting eBay first.
If you’ve already sent the item, try contacting the shipping carrier to find out if you can stop shipment.
In these types of situations, we may, at our sole discretion, decide whether to credit the fees for removed listings.
We have credited all associated fees except for payments processing fees and the final value fee for your listing(s).-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I checked my Paypal and the payment is still there. I clicked on the guy’s username, it doesn’t exist anymore. In my paypal account, in the details for this payment it says,
"Have you received this order?
Domestic: No Shipment Tracking
June 16, 2020, Sent by MANUAL
Status: Cancelled
Have you received this order?
Domestic: ***********************
June 16, 2020, Sent by USPS
Status: Shipped"
So my question is, my product is gone for good but am I keeping the money? If not, am I protected? I’m really confused at what just happened, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Unfortunately, I am in a similar case where 3 days after shipment the buyer claimed “unauthorized”. So I’m out the card indefinitely, I have to wait to hear back about the case. But man buyers are getting really abusive with their protection these days. Cons of online selling.
You should be fine and protected. Likely someone created that account to shill bid or other illicit eBay activity and their account got suspended. Because you were paid and have proof of delivery you’re fine. I’ve seen it happen to plenty of times over the past decade. And heck you’re actually better off, as a suspended account there is no possibility of fraudulent return or negative feedback.
What? You should be good on that. I’ve gotta those a decent amount of times and won every single time. All the ones I got are because of the buyers credit card company.
Had this happened before, what really else can you do? You can ask either server used but the instructions are laid out already so instead you could kick back and eat some Slowpoke tails. Occasionally the Outer Gods tend to sneeze out existences now and then.
What is the average value of the items you guys are selling here? OP said his was $22.
I’ve never had this happen, so I’m curious if these are happening with high value items as well? Seems like fraud would be less likely because of laws on higher value transactions.
It ranges, I’ve had it happen to items that push $1k and some that are a few $100 or even lower than $100. @kinggr even if you didn’t ship with tracking it would only be an automatic lose if they claim they didn’t receive the item. Every buyer I’ve talked to is usually unaware that a case has been filed too. I would talk to eBay customer service about this.
