Just received this email regarding an item that I received payment for and shipped on April 20th. It says the “bid was cancelled” because the buyer is no longer a registered user, does that mean I lose the $1750? It still shows up as if I received payment in PayPal, but I’m freaking out a bit. The package can’t be intercepted because it’s international apparently. On top of that, it’s damn near impossible to reach an actual person on the eBay customer service line. Senior eBay users, please help!!
Had the same happen to me for $1k last month. I waited out the necessary allotted time, made a claim, and won that day. No worries, just another annoyance we go through sometimes
Had many other issues like this in the past. Was stopped completely when I stopped shipping internationally. You get less sales but also less headaches overall.
I heard Ebay for Business on facebook responds well and have a bit more power than those on the phone right now, might be worth a shot to get more info, just send them a message at www.facebook.com/eBayForBusiness
I’m confused. Sorry. But how can you be scammed if you sent the item? If you sent the card, then surely you were sent the money. What’s the issue if his account is now deactivated? You got the money and they got the card. So what’s the problem?
Yes. Once the money hit my account that was the end of it. I sent the product. Customer was happy so they didn’t file a return and boom. Done.
I’m not asking to be sarcastic or anything. I’m genuinely inquisitively asking the question. In what scenario would he have the money taken from him after it is already in his account and become scammed?
Yeah it’s a valid inquiry, I’ve been in touch with customer service over chat and everything is fine. It was mostly the wording of the email that scared me, such as “we had to cancel the bid” and “to help you avoid this situation in the future, consider setting a Buy It Now price and requiring buyers to make an immediate payment”, which I have always done. Also, they implied that I should relist the item and I would be credited for the fees, just general language that implied I wasn’t gonna get paid despite already sending the item haha. But yeah it seems like I’m in the clear!
I mean. Personally, I wouldn’t be worried if the money hit my account and I pulled it out.
Also, scammed implies nefarious intention on behalf of the buyer. I can’t see how someone could be scammed through this method. I’m not a big seller on eBay by any means so I was curious to know how someone could. Lol.
Glad you were able to talk to eBay and sort it all out!
