Ebay BCBM Nightmare

I am sure this has happened to some of you before. Anyway, I purchased a Crystal Golem from Skyridge for just under $50, the pictures looked good and claimed it as NM. I messaged the seller asking questions about the condition and why he stated it was NM and he said he listed it as NM because it is an old card and not new but no scratches or anything is wrong with it. The card arrived today in a flat USPS envelope, I open it up and there is the card laying inside with no toploader, and not even a sleeve! I look it over and see light scratches on the holo and a small indent that is hard to be seen as well as edgewear and a nick on a bottom corner. This made me cringe right when I seen it, such a beautiful card treated that way! Overall the card is in great shape minus very little scratches and some edgewear, if there was no indent it would be NM for sure. The seller had 0 feedback and was new but I took a shot by taking his word and it bit me. I just sent him a message asking for a partial refund as I will still take the card as it is for my binder collection but only if he agreed to my partial refund amount or I will return in…I was really looking forward to this card…

This sounds like it belongs in this thread!

I don’t understand how some people think it’s alright to just send a card like that. Common sense is at an all time low these days :slightly_frowning_face:

I think asking for a partial refund is fair. Also just because he is a new seller so I guess it wouldn’t hurt to send a message telling him how you would expect the card to be protected during shipping so hopefully he can learn from this mistake.

Sorry, I thought there was a thread for this, I could not find it. Well the seller has responded by saying too bad he does not offer refunds as his AD claims no refunds. I informed him that he lied to me on the condition and that I would be contacting eBay and he started to reason with me. He was confused on how I was expecting a flawless card when the card is old lol. That is when I told him I went by HIS word when I messaged him and he told me nothing was wrong not a single scratch. He is in the process of giving me a partial refund.

Not just with new sellers.
Always contact seller if his packaging is shabby/not desired. I even contacted VintageMagic (they selling Alpha/Beta/Unlimited Magic stuff) once on their packaging and they were really happy with my feedback.

The seller told me I should of asked for it to be protected or shipped in a toploader…lol

Haha I didn’t mean to sound like I was correcting you or anything! I simply meant that the way he shipped it out is the definition of terrible packaging!

It’s all good man no worries.

I really dislike it when people use a card’s age as a factor for its condition. It’s unacceptable to me. Condition just is and is indifferent to how old it is.

This is why I now message every seller I buy single cards from asking them to “please send inside a penny sleeve which is then placed inside a toploader”. Some think “duh of course I do this”, some get a little rude to me, but even troll and toad sent me a card once without proper protection and Ive just gotten tired of it.

Once I started getting busy in life I quit buying from new sellers. They need to learn but being stretched for time, it wouldn’t be from me.

Had that happen just the other day, actually on my birthday, It was the worst surprise ever lol

every single order I have gotten from them has just came in a penny sleeve, no toploader or card saver.

Even when i order more than one card they stuff ALL of them into one single sleeve, Overcharge for shipping but cant even give me extra sleeves lol

Hopefully you replied in kind stating that safe receipt of the item is his obligation – not yours. : p

I was raging pretty hard after his first response but I was calm and explained my side of it and he started to understand my side, I informed him if he plans on selling more to use a sleeve and toploader. He proceeded to ask where to get sleeves and toploaders from so showed him a few options so this does not happen again. He says he is new to selling cards and pretty much “scanned” the card and decided if it was good or bad. I had to inform him that a single flaw can take hundreds if not thousands off a card hence the reason I messaged him asking for more information.

I ordered 10 evolutions prerelease kit mews from them a few months ago. I chose the second least expensive shipping option. I asked them not to use that shitty white envelope they normally throw cards into.

They listened and used a bubble mailer but they stuffed the cards into penny sleeves just like your order. They definitely cut corners to save money. Unless they have an amazing deal or you’re in the market for buying bulk I say stay away from them. If they don’t care enough to properly ship cards that means they don’t care enough to keep customers.
