Ebay doesn’t control outside sales though so it doesn’t matter what they think
For eBay sales you simply build the trackable shipping into the cost of the item, guide them off auction, or calculate in a loss percentage into your overall sales. The eBay side is easily managed.
Good point. I have had buyers in the past who were surprised by customs fees they had to pay when picking up their package, even though I always message them prior to shipping to let them know (when applicable) about possible fees. As for the shipping price, that’s a bit of an issue. USPS is generally cheaper than UPS, FedEx, etc when it comes to shipping internationally. Even then, it gets expensive real quick for heavy packages or anything faster than First Class International. For most cards it isn’t a big deal. For items $250 or over (for which sellers must add signature confirmation), it becomes a bigger issue. Any shipping option with signature will cost $50+ to ship internationally, and most buyers aren’t willing to pay all of that on top of customs fees.
Ohh and top of my op, after purchasing the marked up shipping via ebay they didnt mark the item as shipped or add a tracking number to the item. Plus the receipt doesnt specify the item sold all of which was automatic before. Sure they may be considered small thing but j.c. I thought paying more for something meant it would be better, not worse! Subsequently not. …GRAPES ARE VERY SOUR OVER HERE
There’s a chink in my armor eh? I guess nobody’s perfect lol.
I never keep the savings though. I give it all to the customer.
Actually since Meg Whitman, who started working at eBay in the beginning, retired in her 30s a multi billionaire and since I had two very major issues with her that she could have saved me on and they ignored me it’s made it hard to feel sorry for them.
It’s still wrong though and you my friend are most certainly right.
I actually get a little annoyed at how many offers I get to take things outside of eBay. Usually the buyer goes like “$80 pp direct?” on like a $100 item saying its better for both of us. I know how much I pay in fees, and its nowhere near that much and IMO the fees are completely reasonable. If it weren’t for eBay I wouldn’t be able to do what I do in the hobby, and I don’t mind paying them their cut.
I mean if the person messaging me is clearly a member from here or a multi time repeat customer or something I will do it, but I get them all the time from people who I have no idea who they are and have never sold to and politely turn them down.
