"E4's Favorite" Polls - Archive

Overview Why I began doing these polls in December 2023 as a way to see how the community here ranks cards of various Pokemon or types of cards. Sometimes we may have an idea of what is #1, but what might round out the top 10? It’s hard to guess, and we always end up surprised in the end. Kyogre was always my favorite when I was a kid, but I have to admit that Groudon has stronger artworks. Probably a giant pissed-off behemoth is just cooler and offers ton of possibilities, so I switched side.

I find the Pokepark one so funny, looks like Groudon is chilling in the hot tub

I love the double crisis pair too!

I feel like these Pokemon radiate way more coolness in the games than in card form! That said, I totally agree that the Kyogre card quality is directly proportionate to how much its mouth is open! Haha

Man, this thread really highlights how few Kyogre/Groudon cards we’ve had in the modern era. I found myself voting for a lot of cards, but maybe I am biased as I love gen 3. My favorites have to be the BW EX Full Arts, but the Double Crisis SARs and the gold stars are not far behind.

I would love to get a textured Kyogre & Groudon SAR soon. I think there are so many amazing options like @inertgeometry pointed out with the new artstyle!

I think the AA succeeds because it presents a pokemon with a loud design, in a very muted pose, drawing attention to the surrounding elements. It gives kyorgre a sense powerful grace. I can feel its power pulse as it’s relaxing under the waves. Best primal kyogre for me

Compared to most legendaries, Kyogre and Groudon have some of the worst arts. I hope that we are blessed with some IR/SIR/AR/SAR soon, because it’s been slim pickings.

I really really like the primal designs for both these Pokemon. I think they really do well to convey the force of nature aspects for both Kyogre and Groudon. I like Groudon depictions better because the early artwork from Kyogre just shows it floating in space rather than in and around water.

Voted slightly more for Groudon due to the fact I like it a lot more, very lacklustre across the board sadly.

While I have always preferred Kyogre in the games and just about everything else, I have to admit that Groudon has the better cards overall. Its design lends itself to much more possibilities of poses and locations. Kyogre is just a big whale in the ocean, there are only so much variance you can get from it.

You have inspired me. Kyogre is also my favorite of the two, yet has so few cards that do it justice. My next Pokémon art project will be Kyogre done right!
