I have never and would never send double sleeved cards to PSA. More handling and fussing about getting the card out can’t help in any way and cards are perfectly protected in just a single sleeve. Sounds like you didn’t mean to, but it will be interesting to see if they take them in fine. Have never and would never use any of those “perfect fit” sleeves in general and especially never on a card sent off to PSA either. I know a lot of people double sleeve with those on the inside, and I can’t believe PSA doesn’t specifically ban those. That death grip they put on the edges always scares me.
One thing that got me last time is that I do use ultra pro sleeves but sometimes they are too large and when I put the cards into the sleeve and then into card saver Is, the cards with glossy finishes slides out sometimes with the sleeve stuck in the card saver when I try to orient them in my package that I was going to send. I was able to find some card saver IIs but I forgot to remove the second sleeves for some. I tried using a second layer of sleeves cause I thought the card wouldn’t be able to slide out from the top given the sleeve+card thickness combined would stop the card inside the sleeve from shifting
Double sleeveing is a waste of time and money and does zilch to protect a card. In fact, it probably contributes to a card being damaged because it gets handled then handled again then handled again.
I’m wondering if he meant potentially sending simply 1000 cards penny sleeved in a box like shown below?
That is the way that I store my pack fresh stuff as anytime I open an early WOTC box all cards even U/C get sleeved then sorted and put in boxes like this . I have actually wondered if sending in 150-200 or so in a smaller one of these would make sense as card-savering them is obviously more time consuming and costly. There really shouldn’t be any chance of damage if you filled a box all the way with penny sleeves like this. I just have never decided to do an order that big and I would never want to think about 500-1000 at a time, though maybe PSA would give great pricing and it may not be a bad option if you have oodles of pack fresh early WOTC 1st edition stuff to send.
2nd) Once they arrive in research they are handled by people whose job isn’t to be careful in handling. If they aren’t in card savers then your submission is at their mercy. They don’t like it either cause it slows their job down and one thing you don’t want to do is make anyone along that line angry.
3rd) It slows down the process which backs everybody up.
This makes sense, I don’t want the cards to be at the complete mercy of mishandling. Sorry for not being too descriptive but gottaketchumall got it right. Thanks guys for the input, now to get me some more card savers lol.
