It’s not my favourite Pokémon of all time but I really like both of them. Gen 2 Pokémon are all pretty cool!

Yes! I think they are cute. My partner isn’t interested in Pokemon but she loves Sunflowers. So I bought her a Sunflora card and she keeps it in her phone case.

I’m learning japanese, and Sunflora’s name in japanese is Kimawari (キマワリ) which is most likely a word play on Himawari (ひまわり) - sunflower. I have no idea if there is any deeper meaning behind it though I know that ひ means sun, まわる is “to turn”, but I don’t know what is the キ supposed to mean.

Sunkern and I go way back!
I remember playing Pokemon Silver and was trying to catch a Sunkern in the national park. The bit where they host the bug catching contest. I must’ve been trying to find one for hours! Certainly long enough to embed this memory forever! I found out you could only find it at a certain time of day. Not morning and not at night but during the day cycle. Wild news. So I waited and went back and boom, there it was.
It’s peculiar, I always have fond memories of new Pokemon because I play the games. I genuinely believe it helps so much in building attachments to them. Even if I do just leave them in a box straight after catching them.

I don’t collect them, but I do love the design of these mon. I remember I loved their whimsy and theme when I first saw them in G/S!
