Does anyone here collect Yu-Gi-Oh or other nonsport

I’m thinking about getting into Yu-Gi-Oh and was wondering if there is a place like efour for Yu-Gi-Oh. What else does everyone here collect

There are a few yugioh specialists in this forum too

Me being one of them, and another one I can mention immediately is @budget!

From my experience, most of the community in yugioh is still more in the “playing” phase of the game, but there’s a growing amount of collectors out there. Unfortunately, there isn’t such a warm and friendly place like Efour for yugioh. Most trading forums also revolve around trading playable cards via collectors cards.

Oh something I should mention, if you are looking to start a sealed collection, I am unable to help you much with that, because I avoid buying sealed products since they can be tampered with, and I have zero personal experience with sealed to vouch if something is authentic when it’s tied to thousands of dollars worth of product.

Notzildagilroy from what I remembered was looking into sealed yugioh, so he may point you to the right sources!

I have a few yugioh cards from when I bought in 2015-2016 but it’s more to see if I can pick cards that I think will appreciate, so I only have cards in LOB/MFC/MRL/PSV/RP01/CP01 + Ghost Rares – so far they’ve been doing well!

Yu-Gi-Oh!’s collector base is in its infancy so there’s not really anywhere but I will give you 3 nuggets of wisdom:

  1. Go after the holy grails which are set cards first. They’re the hardest to obtain and they’re extremely undervalued atm. Yu-Gi-Oh!’s pull rates for the set cards which are desirable are extremely high and it’s not worth opening product. 1st Ed. Boxes from 2002 are extremely affordable atm.

I’d only consider going after the holy grails in PSA 10 first because they’re genuinely hard cards to find raw in gem mint. Most are 16-14 years old and were well lived by their original owners.

  1. The print quality in Yu-Gi-Oh! Is leagues ahead of Polemon. Almost every new card or pack fresh card should grade a 10 unless there’s issues with centering.

To this end, don’t buy prize cards graded as PSA 10. These cards are never played with and are kept in amazing condition by the people who own them, even old ones like Stein or CCV.

Buy them raw and grade them yourself, eBay isn’t the best way to acquire them. You’re going to need to go on fb and talk to vendors.

  1. On the other side of the coin to point 1) people are overpaying for absolute garbage just because the population of graded cards is so low. Have a really good think on what you’re buying, don’t pay $100 for a bulk holo.

I actually collect a bit of yugioh, not as much as Pokemon though.

I keep up with the latest Yu-Gi-Oh! products that are released but I don’t buy packs or boxes as much anymore. One thing that I like about older Yu-Gi-Oh! product is that sealed boxes are actually affordable compared to WOTC Pokemon stuff, for me anyway.

Anyone willing to talk to me about Yu-Gi-Oh on efour discord in about 4 hours? My name is the same on discord. If you send me a message I’ll appreciate it. I’ll be in there regardless

Side comment: We have a discord? Is it called efour as well because I’ll totally join it. I just didn’t know we had one.

It’s on the sidebar if you are on a PC. Not sure how/where it would show on mobile but here is the link.

pojo use to be one long time ago. Now it dead, to me. I collected every highest rarities heroes, old school cards, and some hard to find. I personally enjoy my tk2n black ojama token along with tk4n ojama set I pick up long time ago. Sealed product is not my thing, but it cheap compare to wotc.

I collect MTG, my collection for it far exceeds my pokemon collection but I’m far more active in the pokemon community these days. There isn’t really a nice MTG E4 comparison. There are a lot of self proclaimed MTG experts out there now that MTGFinance is fairly mainstream that don’t know what they’re talking about, it’s kind of annoying.

Yugioh ghost rares

I collect one of each rarity for Yu-Gi-Oh, including OCG and misprints. Here is my checklist, and here are some outdated scans. Although I still have almost 4k Yu-Gi-Oh cards, I don’t really collect anything else besides this above, unless I find a pretty cool and cheap misprint (a card with misaligned 1st edition stamp that was less than 10 USD arrived today for example  ).

As for your other question: places like E4 for Yu-Gi-Oh instead of Pokémon. Well, there isn’t any place like E4, how could you even think that.  But Yu-Gi-Oh communities I’ve personally been part of were the Pojo Forum and Yu-Gi-Oh reddit.

I mostly collect Blue Eyes White Dragon cards. Really want the Ultimate Rare one.

What do you guys do with Yu-Gi-Oh bulk? Is there a place to trade it or sell it?

I’ve held onto my Yugioh bulk since 2002. The thing with yugioh is that its mostly a player game more than a collecting one, and there is no standard format but a fluid ban list. So some cards printed in the first set, LOB, can still be used today. This also causes old commons to spike in price sometimes. For instance, instant fusion became a couple dollar common from just a dime or two some years back. So its really hard to determine what cards can be seen as “bulk” because you never know what new set or mechanic will come out that utilize rather old and seemingly useless cards.
But generally older cards aren’t playable. If you have really old bulk, and they are in gradeable condition, I’d wait maybe 5-10 years and then see if the collector side of yugioh picks up.

Recently went through my childhood Yu-Gi-Oh collection but I didn’t have anything worth much, some cards were also played as I used to play the game. I do remember having at least one holo that I couldn’t find so I might try and have a look for some more cards. I also have doctor who cards and football cards but they are even less valuable.

There is, but don’t expect much from them =/

Bulks are starting to be worth less and less these days.

Take all the good stuff out and sell the jank.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Bulk is a gold mine if you have the time to go through it and know what you’re looking for.
