Did this guy rip a real card?

Someone on reddit got a card in a fake psa 10 slab. He opens up the slab but rips the card, I think assuming it was fake, but im 99% sure it was real. I don’t know why people rip cards as proof as if they know what it should rip like if it was fake or real given they’ve probably never ripped a real card of the same type.

That card is fake AF

How so. You can see the texture in the first pic seems spot on with a real card and I was unaware of fakes being able to duplicate modern textured cards texture at all, let alone that well.

You can see in the picture he posted it’s just a sticker on a card stock backing

It looks like it has the texture spot on from a real card. Are they able to make stickers on card stock that emulates the texture of real cards perfectly? Seems like an almost indistinguishable method for fake cards, at least from pictures of them in card slabs.

And why would they bother for a literal 2 dollar card?

At the 11 minute mark, the guys rips a real modern japanese holo card and peels the holo layer.
He specifically says “it peels like a sticker, but this does not mean its fake”

Soooo, can anyone tell me why they are so sure it is a fake card?

I actually just peeled a modern Japanese holo rare just now. I think you’re right now, could be real!

I wasn’t aware Japanese modern holos are literally just stickers lol… sorry appletun

Yeah that looks like a legit card to me. Texture and sparkle effects look accurate, color and font look correct. I don’t think it’s worth anyone’s time/effort to make a highly convincing counterfeit of that particular card.

real card, fake slab

I was starting to go crazy lol. I *know* that anyone that sees a holo card peeled in some way that thinks its proof that its fake haven’t done it themselves so they wouldn’t know how a similar holo card would peel. Let it be a PSA that you shouldn’t judge of a card is real or not based on how it ripped or peeled since most people don’t know the difference between a real and fake peeled card.

Also figured the guy who ripped the card was just being overly cautious thinking the card was fake despite having no knowledge or indication that it would be fake given he fell for that bad faked psa label.

that slab is fake. Card seems real though.

The card could be real but the slab that it was in is definitely fake

I will come in to every relevant thread and denounce the rip test. The rip test is not real! Don’t believe the stories!! Amateurs!! Juveniles!! Lambs led astray!! The rip test is a scam from Big Pokémon to trick you into buying more cards!!

Rip this post if you want to, it’s still REAL!!
