i cant find much obviously because there just isnt that many in population i see a PSA 10 sold in feb for 700 however there is a PSA 7 listed right now for 1k and a 10 for 4k i got really lucky and found two in mint condition today im just trying to figure out what its actual value is thanks
I was the buyer of the card at $700 and I’m also the person who has it listed at $4k. I believe I briefly corresponded with @pokemondealz4u via eBay, but I’ll give my input here, too.
Do I think it’s worth $4k? No. But I also don’t have a particular desire to sell the card. I just listed it at a high price for the hell of it. It’s sort of in a weird spot in my collection since it’s not part of my PSA 10 sets, but it’s also a really cool card that I enjoy owning. But if it sells for close to my asking price (which I doubt it will, or at least not anytime soon), I’ll just take the profit and buy cards for my main sets.
But is the card worth $700? No. I had a $1k offer on it, which I declined. I’d happily buy more PSA 10s of it at $1k ea (not joking; if you have any, PM me lol).
Ya the lack of sales data makes it really hard to judge the values. I have the PSA 10 Sceptile 5/17 and I have no idea where I would value it at. I bought it for $20 3 years ago lol. The POP sets are very niche at the moment, and they are so hard to find anyway. I have seen multiple of the commons from the set sell for $100-$250 over the last year, so who knows.
Demand is simply higher for those.
It’s hard to draw any conclusions from just one sale. $700 could just as easily be overvalued as undervalued and without any other sales there’s little to support either argument.
Best thing to do with cards like these is to either list them with an ideal price you have in mind or stick them up for auction and see what happens.
I mean, I’m literally willing to pay $1k for other PSA 10 copies of it. And I’ve already received an offer of $1k on it. So it’s fair to say that it’s worth more than $700, if for no other reason than the fact that I’m willing to pay more lol.
Not that I don’t believe you but unless money changes hands I’m not going to believe anything other than the value it last sold for.
There was a card put up for sale last year which last sold for $900 that I offered $1,200 on. The seller refused because someone’s E4 buy thread said they’d pay $3k for it… Lo and behold the guy didn’t really want to pay $3k but it made the seller refuse to go any lower than that.
I think they eventually ended up selling it for $1,150 a few months later after I’d picked up a different copy for $950 or so.
just my opinion i feel like a psa 10 copy is worth 1k considering im seeing Legendary Collection non holo PSA 10 Squirtles listed for 1k the concept of rarity in Pokemon means almost nothing to the majority of buyers i only considered selling because i have two copies however i may just trade one instead and sell a Mcdonalds Pikachu lol
I doubt those Squirtles are selling for that price, though, to be fair. A LC non-holo Squirtle is a 50 cents card raw mint whereas the Deoxys ex is a $300+ card raw mint (I’d buy mint copies at this price all day if you want to get rid of yours lol).
I personally would never consider selling my 10 for $1k, but it’s the highest offer I’ve received so far so it would be dishonest of me to suggest it’s worth more. I think $1k is a reasonable evaluation, but I’d be stunned if you could actually find someone willing to sell a copy at that price.
Stop analyzing comps. Start analyzing the factors that lead to pricing. For example:
how hard is it to find mint raw
how much are packs going for
how many packs would it take to open to pull
how popular is the pokemon
is the set popular
etc, etc.
As you answer these questions you will start be able to discern for yourself a value that is within the ball park. We are still very much in the stage where people rely heavily on comps, even if the comps dont make sense.
Update: sold the card privately for $1300. While a very cool card, it didn’t advance my main collecting goals at all. And it’s tough to turn down an offer of nearly double what I originally paid on a card that’s not part of my main collection.
Priorities are really important. I sold off a lot of my PSA 10s last year at peak and I’m glad I did because while I liked those cards they fueled my acquisition of cards I’m much more serious about. Congratulations on the sale.
