Edit: This will be the final thread i create on Custom Cards. This is the end of my custom arc (for now). And will be moving on to creating actual articles that have good information soon.
Every custom card I’ve seen has felt and looked so fake and cheap. Glossy Holo, shiny metal gold, matted colors, thin paper, faded image, etc etc.
Any shop I see selling custom cards I just can’t take seriously personally. It just makes them look illegitimate imo

A friend had a custom card made for me to be a stand-in for a card I will never be able to get myself. It was really nice and meant a lot to me.
In the past I created some custom imaginary cards, then printed on photographic paper: it’s a super enjoyable hobby and I think they can also be a neat gift, especially if something drawn by you.
With acetone, transparent paper and a good ink printer you can do some really nice looking stuff!
Every year my wife buys me a cute custom card for valentines day. I enjoy them but those are the only ones that I have
As a leaving present, my old team made me some custom cards containing both references to good times and also inside jokes about the mess that was corporate/management.
These are cards that I will forever treasure.

These are the last 3 years. The others are upstairs and I’m too lazy to go there lol. The middle one is metal. The left one feels like someone stuck a sticker on a real card and they right one is clearly just a printed card.

I don’t own any custom cards. But if they were gifted to me for some reason, I would keep them.
I feel like that’s a huge portion of the custom card market. Gifts from someone who doesn’t know Pokemon but knows you like Pokemon and think they’re really cool
Absolutely. I’ve seen a lot of family custom cards where the owner and their family are made into characters with their favorite Pokemon around them.
It’s a nice thought. But they just look so cheap to me
Not my cup of tea either. I’ve seen stickers made too that people hand out. I thought that was a little odd.
Only time I’d buy custom cards is if someone made high quality holofoil versions of cards that deserved to be holo. (Looking at you Dark Jolteon)
