I am interested in working-out a deal with this eBay Seller; however, I would like to try and work off eBay to save us both some money. If anyone knows how I can contact them off eBay (IG, FB, E-Mail…) and can help me out with that information, it would be much appreciated!
Yeah I’ve had great success with:
“Hey I’m trying to save on the 10% eBay fee, what’s your email address and I can PayPal you directly for a small discount”
I thought putting an email address in an eBay message causes an automatic flag that prevents sending the message and gives you a warning which could ultimately lead to the suspension/termination of your account if you do it again.
I agree with @cullers . I wouldn’t respond to that message with my email. I don’t believe eBay’s algorithms can scan images for contact info, so that’s your best bet, but it’s still a risk.
It seems I have to elaborate on my statement. Why not message them something “hey like your cards, do you have insta?” Job done.
Edit: I’ve never had issues asking people for their emails. They’ve always messaged me back on eBay with it. Admittedly though in these instances I wasn’t using the email to avoid the fees .
As a Seller, I get countless eBay Messages from people asking if they could purchase “X” Item direct through PayPal to save the 10% Fee. I always respond to these eBay Messages the same - basically saying that eBay has been cracking-down on people doing this and this is against eBay Policy to do such (blah, blah, blah…).
In this case, I am actually looking to purchase something from another eBay Seller; but I’m super paranoid to even suggest working outside of eBay! LOL I’d actually save myself a couple hundred bucks with the size of the purchase; however, I’ve just heard far to many honor stories about people getting their account suspended for a week or two trying to circumvent the eBay System - and with the volume that I’m currently selling - it’s not worth the worry for me to suggest working outside of eBay via an eBay Message! The couple hundred bucks savings would negate itself plus some if eBay were to somehow find-out about this and suspend my account, and I would totally regret trying to save such a “small” amount!
Fortunately, this eBay Seller has actually purchased from my eBay Store!!! So, I now have his e-mail address and phone number! Haha I really don’t understand eBay sometimes… They’re so strict on contact outside of eBay; however, they provide all that personal information whenever someone purchases anything from you!
Anyway, THANKS Everyone!
Keep your fingers-crossed that we’re able to finalize this deal! Haha
