I wouldn’t touch that auction with a bargepole. I’m trying to complete the 1999/2000 holos myself so I do like this set.
But unless your willing to wait a few moreee years in the hope that psa introduces a base 1999/2000 category then this lot will simply take up closet space. No wonder the person is selling them.
The investment all around just isn’t worth it in my opinion. £600 right now is high enough.
Psa will never do that it would cause too much disruptions and they would have to update their systems to reflect the numbers even if they start doing it so many have been graded over the years so it won’t be accurate. The lot is ok but what sucks is that there’s no holos in it and that’s what makes the set special and rare.
Meanwhile the holos rarely show up anywhere… Even with this massive influx of base set variants on all market places over the last several months. PWCC have had a lot of no rarity holos in the last few blocks, but I do not remember seeing any 1999-2000 holos. Considering how many regular unlimited, shadowless and 1st edition holos they auction off every single month, I think this is striking and really shows just how much more rare this variant is relative to the other ones. I mainly care because I still need 3 holos in somewhat presently condition to complete my binder set. So for the time being, I just hope 1999-2000 base will not see a sudden increase in popularity like we have seen with no rarity base over the last year or so, because then prices will just explode.
I have faith that with that Logan Paul label and they’ll show us some mercy
100% correct, but yeah one of the reason for the stagnated prices are due to PSA not recognising the set, though another startling variable would be that many aren’t aware of the sets existence ~
I think they’re aware, but they just don’t care because a.) it’s the smallest difference aside from no rarity b.) they’ve already graded a lot as unlimited and this would probably mess with the pop report c.) it’s psa. If they won’t grade no rarity venusaur or raichu they’re not gonna ever grade no rarity. Just send to cgc if you really want them graded
I have contacted PSA again to get an update on this. Its very bizarre to me that they are still yet to recognise base 2000. I mean now is a great time to pick up 8th print cards for cheap, because if they ever do get recognised, I’m sure there will be a price boom. Especially with the holos, as we all know its not even a good chance you’ll get an 8th print holo out of a UK pack.
Will you be sending your cards in? Can’t wait to see the layout on the case, and I suspect quite a few unknowingly sending these cards in as Base Unlimited will be a tad bit surprised
I’m both really happy and really sad. This has been my dream to see this happen since I returned to the hobby in 2017 so the fact that this is happening is incredible. The sad part is I’m 12 Holos and 1 non-Holo rare away and with PSA accepting these, it’ll make it more expensive for me to finish them. Overall though super excited
